Esai Morales is set to take charge on Criminal Minds Season 9.

The veteran actor (Caprica, Fairly Legal, Magic City) has been cast as the new BAU section chief, according to TV Guide. His character is named Matt Cruz and he's an ex-FBI agent who worked in the past with JJ. Look for more to come out regarding that relationship as episodes progress.

Morales will debut on Episode 3, with Hotch acting as section chief in the meantime following the death of Strauss on the Criminal Minds Season 8 finale.

Season 9 premieres on September 25 and other notable guest stars already on board include Camryn Manheim and David Anders.
