Glee: Casting for Recurring Season 5 Characters

Four familiar faces will be out on Glee Season 5, while a quintet of recurring characters will be upgraded to series regular status.

Now, Fox sources confirm that three new recurring players will come on board this fall to take their places.

Performing at Regionals

According to TV Line's Michael Ausiello, the additions will include:

  • Ruby, a new African-American McKinley High School student Ruby.
  • Julie, a cute and quirky 20-something.
  • Ryan, also in his 20s, who sings and plays guitar.

Glee Season 5, meanwhile, kicks off on Thursday, September 18.

That's what glee club is. And for the longest time I thought that was silly, and now I think it's just about the bravest thing that anyone could do.
