The rules have changed on The Vampire Diaries Season 5, but some things remain the same.

Elena, Damon, Stefan-Silas and Katherine are back and sexier than ever in the CW's first promo for the season premiere, "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and it looks like their return will be a doozy.

In the not-even-30-second video below, see see Stefan (or his mysterious Shadow Self) is hitting on Katherine, Jeremy in the midst of a pretty big fight, and Damon delivering his characteristic snark.

Oh yeah, and Damon and Elena trade "I love yous." That happens too.

The fan favorite returns October 3 with so many unanswered questions.
