Grey's Anatomy Review: Trick or Treat

at . Comments

Grey Sloan Memorial was hit with a bunch of spooky patients on Grey's Anatomy Season 10 Episode 7, an episode that was definitely tricky for the doctor.

But a major treat for us viewers.

There were so many patients and one doctor’s well-being was placed in jeopardy. Who was it? What exactly happened? And lastly, were there super creepy sightings? Oh, you bet....

Ben and Derek

Well, let’s start off with Leah, aka Arizona’s Rebound, who was bitten by a zombie! Okay, so this wasn’t actually The Walking Dead, but it almost seemed like it.

Come to find out, the so-called zombie was actually just a delusional psychotic drug addict. I’m always down for a holiday special and loved that Shonda and company gave us just that. The main medical crisis involved the freaky guy who bit Leah and another victim.

The writers upped the crazy with haunting music and a number of disturbing patients, including a lady who had a wound infected with maggots (ewwww!), a ghost-like patient and a young girl who was nearly scared to death – like, literally.

Elsewhere, Ben finally returned and teamed up with Derek to save Zola’s wings for her costume. Furthermore, with Ben’s help, Derek’s now on his way to making history in the OR. It was nice to have Ben back; however, I hated that he and Bailey are fighting in what seems like only five minutes after his arrival.

While Meredith and Cristina have hardly been besties lately, things became even more awkward when Cristina found out that she wasn’t invited to Mer and Alex’s Halloween bash. Ultimately, Cristina realized that she didn’t belong at the kid-filled party and left without saying a word.

I get why the writers are showing us this arc. It all makes sense; however, I just hope that we don’t have to spend a majority of Sandra Oh’s last season watching the pair like this.

Lastly, remember when Richard was a total jerk to Meredith? He finally apologized for all of the terrible things he said about her being the wrong choice and all. I was really glad that what he said wasn’t just forgotten.

It’s also nice to see him willing to still teach. I’ve missed that mostly about Webber.

Other thoughts:

  • As a Jolex shipper, it’s always totally frustrating to see this pair week in and out simply not communicating. Thank goodness Jo took Mer’s advice and tried again to talk to Alex. By the way, she looked amazing as Tinkerbell. It’s too bad Once Upon a Time already found its Tink.
  • So, Stephanie just had eye surgery, and then went back to work while also wearing eye makeup for her Halloween get up. Sure, some people heal fast, but I was strongly advised not to use eye makeup for at least a month after my surgery.
  • Don’t forget to return next week to chime in on our Grey’s Anatomy Round Table.

Overall, I thought this was a fun installment, albeit it was very busy at times and some of the relationship drama could have been held off for later.

Still, with crazy medical cases, personal drama amongst our favorite doctors and even some almost zombies, what more could have you have asked for?!?

What's going on with all the new cast? They have good chemistry as colleagues and friends of the older cast. But NO couply chemistry at all!
The only likeable one - Mousy - is the one they killed. The characters feel so watered down and unbelievable now. It's all touch and go. Jackson and Stephanie (?) - WORST. CHEMISTRY. EVER.
Jo and Alex- pretty girl, but NO chemistry.
April - what's going on with her? Why are her scenes so reduced?
Cristina and Mer - come on, they are each other's "person" - the whole distance coz one has become a parent thing- that's just lazy writing.
Owen and what's her face - NO chemistry.
Leah - no. Not with Arizona.
Arizona - one of the most likeable characters has become very annoying and whiny. Won't miss her character if she's gone.
Shane - getting likeable. Small doses please.
Bailey - I like the strict Bailey better. Anything that has her gushing is yucks.

UGHH!! What is happening to this show? Shane better not hook up with Cristina. Arizona and Leah is just gross...stop trying to make us like the interns and focus on the main characters! Also, PLEASE don't ruin Cristina and Mer's friendship! I know it's Sandra Oh's last season so the writers should give Cristina a happy ending, not ruin every relationship she ever had.

Az and Leah is as gross as those maggots in that lady's leg. Just ew! I feel like they are trying to make us like the interns. Theyre alright but lets get back to the main characters. I hope they dont make Christina and Shane hook up. Thats just all types of wrong! Im frustrated with this season. Nothing seems to be moving forward or wowing me. I did like "thriller". It was Halloween themed so I was expecting much else outside of that. I need more!

Cristina and Shane were not together, they had a drink at the bar that does not mean they jumped into bed. People are allowed to talk and not become involved. I do agree Arizona and Leah - please move on soon! I mean like yesterday that is GeeGross!

Stop rooting for residents to hook up with attendings. I thought she got rid of this soap opera factor when she married them off. Now we are back to that again. Next they will be hooking up in the on call room again. Most attendings are married at this stage and many residents are also married. If Shonda wants to give this show some credibility. Start showing them in the real light of day. Such as, more foreigners, and more families. This soap opera factor is incredibly tedious. So why do I watch, I love Richard and Jackson's mother relationship, I love Jackson for some reason he always knows what to say at the right time and the right place and he gits rid of crazy. I love Alex and the dynamics of his estranged family. I don't like what they are doing to his girlfriend, they seem to be softening her up. Don't do that, her street credibility is what makes her compatible to him. These characters save the show for me and of course Christina and Bailey.

Please can Cris go home sober and not sleep with the only intern who's not involved with an attending!
I get that Mer and Cris are in different places with regard to their personal life, but Cris didn't visit Mer whilst she was on maternity leave. Now they've fallen out over a misunderstanding that is getting bigger by the day. Please let them sort this out before Cris is written out.

Anybody know who the ghostlike elderly lady patient was played by? It looked like Cloris Leachman but so far everywhere I look doesn't list the actor.

Ok so I've been all over Shonda Rhimes for unrealistic story lines the last few weeks but if she hooks up Yang with Ross I will be abandoning the show. One, Yang is one of the best characters. Thomas and Yang is pure example that people can be platonic and still have great connection, but I cannot see that with Ross at all. Please don't gross me out writers!

I really enjoyed this episode even trough it was creepy. The best performance was Leah I felt so sorry for her. I'm so over Callie and Arizona. I want to see Leah"s and Arizona's relationship progress. I felt bad for Christina also, leaving the party was the right to do. I would like to Shane and Cristina hook up also.

I am really not enjoying this season. After last season, I was looking forward to this season but it's been disappointing. I feel like they are just throwing people together and the new couples don't make sense. AZ and Leah, now Christine and Shane. Yuck. All the interns don't need to be paired up with a resident. Unrealistic. They need to make some changes or I am afraid they will lose me soon as a viewer.

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)

There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't 'cause I thought I'd be happy alone. It was because I thought if I loved someone and then it fell apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone, because what if you learn that you need love and you don't have it? What if you like it and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can you even survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage. It's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This? It could go on forever.
