RJ Mitte is going from a seriously troubled family to ABC Family.

The Breaking Bad star will recur on Season 3 of Switched at Birth, that network announced today, coming on board multiple episodes as Campbell, a pre-med college student paralyzed by a snowboarding accident who works in the free clinic with Katie Leclerc's Daphne.

Said creator/executive producer Lizzy Weiss of the casting:

“We are thrilled to cast such a phenomenal and unique actor as RJ. Our show is about diversity and telling stories about people from all walks of life, and when we created the part of Campbell, we knew RJ was the perfect person to embody him. The character is charismatic, funny, and a bit of a ladies’ man, and we think ‘Breaking Bad’ fans will enjoy seeing Walt, Jr. In a totally different light.”

Switched at Birth returns with new episodes in January.

And Mitte is just the latest Breaking Bad star to find new work on the small screen: Dean Norris is a key player on CBS' Under the Dome, while Betsy Brandt portrays Michael J. Fox's wife on The Michael J. Fox Show.
