Gossip Girl Rewatch: Bad News Blair

at .

You know that older sexy guy in high school who you always wondered about after he graduated? That was totally Carter Baizen on Gossip Girl.

Except in Gossip Girl season 1 episode 4 when he scammed our current sexy guy, Nate Archibald, out of thousands of dollars.

Chuck Being Chuck

It's a good thing Chuck Bass was there to save the day.

Yes, you heard me correctly. Chuck Bass totally saved the day. I guess after the way the writers portrayed him in Gossip Girl season 1 episode 1, it was necessary to to find some redeeming qualities about Charles.

How amazing is "The Lost Weekend?" Granted I'm a girl, but if i were younger and still able to party without having a two day hangover, a lost weekend would definitely be fun as hell. In this episode and in the next, you see some good old fashioned high school partying. You know, before it all turns to like "I murdered someone that one time."

I like that the writers really dove right into the Blair and Serena friendship and their past issues. It wasn't a long drawn out mystery as to why they are the way they are. You can see from the beginning when Eleanor treated Serena better than her own daughter. Also what mother whose daughter has a diagnosed eating disorder would tell her she might prefer the lowfat yogurt?

Dan must've really been in love with Serena to keep giving her chance after chance. The first few impressions he got of her, her world, and her friends were not great. I always enjoyed the fact that Dan sat down with Blair and had that heart to heart with her. I think we can credit Rufus here for giving him the advice that people are usually mean because they are going through something. Blair is clearly a barrel full of issues.

Dan also must've realized that if he wanted Serena he had to make nice with Blair. Let's not even go further with that sentiment right now because the last thing I'm interested in is, is a shipper war. Now Dan and S have scheduled their date and S and B closed another episode with a great bonding moment.

All those for stealing Eleanor's clothes and having a bestie photoshoot, say I!!

This just then, S and B committing a crime of fashion. Who doesn't love a five fingers discount, especially if one of those fingers is the middle one... Everyone knows you can't choose your family but you can choose you friends. And in a world ruled by bloodlines and bank accounts, it pays to have a pal. As much as a BFF can make you go WTF, there's no denying we'd all be a little less less rich without them. And Serena and Blair? They do best things better than anyone. No, that's not a tear in my eye, it's just allergies. Without you, I'm nothing. Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl Season 1 Episode 4 Quotes

Blair: Serena send you here to talk to me?
Dan: No, believe it or not, I actually came here myself.
Blair: (sighs) Normally, wouldn't be this close to you without a tetanus shot.

Serena: (seeing Dan walking up to her with a plate) You're still here?
Dan: Yeah, well, I thought I couldn't leave without bringing you something from craft service. Um, and, uh, and telling you that I'm sorry I judged you.
Serena: Well, I'm sorry I gave you reason to.
(Dan smiles a little)
Serena: Hey, how about you ask me out again?
Dan: How about you actually show up?
Serena: (smiles) Okay. No drama. No disruptions. I promise.
Dan: You promise? Oh, no! That means it's never gonna happen now.
Serena: Aah! Okay, quick. I take it back. I unpromise.
Dan: Friday. 8:00.
Blair: (walking up to them) I think we can agree to those terms...but you can't wear those shoes. Mmm, or that hair.
Serena: Blair.
Dan: (laughs) Oh.
Serena: Okay, see you then.
Blair: Eww. (turns away as Serena kisses Dan on the cheek and hugs him)
Dan: All right. (smiles and walks away)
