Top Chef Winner: Crowned!

at .  Updated at .

The pressure was on this week for Nicholas and Nina.

They were competing for title of Top Chef Champion on the season finale, of course, and they were doing so in front of guest judges such as Chef Morimoto and Chef Paul Bartolotta.

To assist the finalists, the series brought back some eliminated contestants to help come up with the best four-course meal possible; Nicholas, having won the challenge last week, earned first pick and chose Jason, Brian and Louis.

Nina went with Shirley, Stephanie and Travis.

Following some initial cooking and prep time, the finalists were treated to a special dinner surprise that included their relatives. And Nicholas seemed to actually calm down a bit at the mere sight of his wife.

But it was soon on to the Final Service, with Nina presenting a meal inspired by her life in St. Lucia. It included Tuna & Escolar Tartar; Roasted Goat Sugo; Swordfish.

Nicholas, meanwhile, said he just wanted to have "fun" with his menu and chose Sweet Shrimp Bisque; Kombu Cured Duck Breast; and Caramelized White Chocolate Panna Cotta.

Who impressed the panel most?

In the end, the judges basically said Nina was at the extreme in both good and bad ways; her highs were higher than those of Nicholas... but her lows were lower. And her Zeppole was considered the worst item on anyone's plate.

So the winner is Nicholas!
