Starz has released the first extended trailer for Outlander, a wildly anticipated new drama based on a series of best-selling books of the same name by Diana Gabaldon.

The series chronicles a woman from 1945 who gets sent hurtling back through time to Scotland, where she discovers love and adventure atop the highlands of Caledonia.

Adapted by Battlestar Galactica producer Ronald D. Moore, Caitriona Balfe plays this married combat nurse, who must choose between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

It premieres on August 9 at 9/8c and here is your first real look at Outlander:
