The Flash Round Table: Does Eddie Have a Jealous Streak?

What's something in your life you wish you could outrun?

Jim: Actually, there isn't anything in my life I really want to outrun. Oh, sure there are things I would like to have different. For example, I would love a few more minutes with my mom, but we all would want that, and I don't see that as something to outrun.

Hank: Okay that's easy... death. I'd outrun death whoooooooshing back and forth through time and parallel universes. Hang out a bit in 2057, then go back in time and meet my great great great grandparents or something. If I could time travel I'd give Doctor Who a run for his money!

Tanya: When I was in high school, my boyfriend and his best friend got bored and killed all my friends, so I killed them. Then when I went to college and his Mom … wait, that's the plot to Scream. Never mind. I try to outrun bad movies and TV shows. Or at least I want those hours back.

Narsimha: Id like to outrun the uncertainty that seems to fill up your twenties (at least from where I'm standing, just having turned twenty a few months go). Im excited for when life finally settles down and seems stable, with a concrete path in front of me. Im kind of like an old man in that sense.

Carissa: My bad decisions. I'm still running from some of those, but they're always right here.

Do you suspect Eddie might get jealous of the red streak?

Jim: Given that Joe now knows about them, I think Eddie has bigger things to worry about than the red streak. Unless Iris starts swooning over the red streak, I think Eddie will be fine.

Hank: Nah, I think the red streak thing will come and go rather quickly. Maybe I'm being hopeful since that "blur" angle was done to death on Smallville. Let Iris in on the truth I say, besides Barry's not a good liar. He's bound to slip up.

Tanya: Maybe. It depends how obsessed Iris gets or if it becomes more of a fascination of the man behind the red streak, rather than curiosity over who he is and how he got his superpowers. Love triangles are popular these days, so it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to turn into one.

Narsimha: I don't really care about Eddie or Iris at all to be honest. I'm sure when Iris inevitably becomes obsessed with the red streak, their relationship will end and it will all lead to her finally finding out about Barry.

Carissa: I think it could happen. First he was a secret. If she starts spending too much time investigating the red streak, that could infringe upon their relationship.

How would you compare The Mist to the first two metahumans we met?

Jim: Creepy is all that comes to mind. Though he was pretty close to the first metahuman, so I'm kind of surprised they used him so early.

Hank: He was a'ight, but so far Multiplex was my favorite villain. Coolest effects by far. Jim's right, the mist was too similar to Weather Wizard.

Tanya: He was okay. Nothing super special, which didn't bother me, because I assume we're getting relatively lightweight meta humans to give us a chance to know Barry and company better. And I think that is about to end. :)

Narsimha: He seems a lot more powerful then they let on, so I'm sure he'll make a reappearance at some point. The actor was really unsettling in his portrayal of the The Mist, and that plus the fact that he was supposed to be executed, made him really creepy in my eyes.

Carissa: He was pure evil, with the others were layered. I want more layered villains, please.

Do you think Caitlin knows she's a meta, or will she be triggered somehow?

Jim: I don't think she knows that she is a metahuman. Depending on how they want to take her story line, it may be a bit before she is triggered or she discovers her abilities.

Hank: Wait did I miss something? Was it mentioned she's a meta? My hunch is that Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond/Martin Stein) is going to be responsible for her Killer Frost transformation. Perhaps an icy accident attempting to stop Firestorm? I'm not sure her abilities are the result of the particle accelerator explosion itself.

Tanya: No. I don't think she knows. I am curious to know how any meta is triggered because it seems like they have all suddenly become active. Someone like The Mist would not have waited 9 months to get his revenge. It will be interesting to see what happens after Caitlin is triggered. She and Barry seem to be forming a genuine friendship. So I am intrigued to see if they make changes to her character's alliances.

Narsimha: I'm with Henry…did I miss something? I didn't remember anything mentioned this episode. I don't know any of the lore behind The Flash, so I didn't even realize that Caitlin was going to become Killer Frost, as some of you have mentioned. Now that I'm a little more up to speed (had to go read a few articles), I'm excited to see how this plays out. Can't help but feel like it's a bit of spoiler but I guess most fans of the shows were already aware of Ronnie/Firestorm, and Caitlin/Killer Frost. I'd love to see it play out!

Carissa: I honestly have no idea how she becomes Killer Frost, I just know she was in the comics. Good theory on metas though. Maybe something happened to Central City in general when the particle accelerator exploded that will allow otherwise normal activities to alter humanity.

Weekly check-in: Who is Harrison Wells?

Jim: I'm still thinking he is H.G. Wells, the inventory of the time machine and that he is trying to make history right.

Hank: He's got to be one of the Reverse Flashes, probably Hunter Zolomon (Wally West's Zoom). There's no other way to justify killing people. He's a nutbar! The particle accelerator explosion was premeditated. How many lives lost and affected by that? I can't think of a scenario that paints Wells in a positive light. He's just out to make Barry a better hero regardless of the collateral damage. Of course I've been totally wrong before, but that's where I'm at this week.

Tanya: This guy. This guy I cannot get a read on. Last week he seemed to care about Barry. There was real affection and pride in him when Barry confronted his fears and when Joe finally believed in Barry too. But then he murdered Stagg, which was done to protect Barry, but not something I could see Barry doing (as future Barry) or even wanting done on his behalf. I felt Harrison was much more calculating this episode and definitely shuffling (or creating) the board to suit his needs. But I don't know why Barry matters so much to him. I love how they end each episode with him.

Narsimha: I have nothing to add but my weekly assertion of the fact that I have no idea. Premeditating something as catastrophic as the particle accelerator explosion is clearly evil. And, for me, something like that already places him clearly on the bad guy's side. Even if his eventual justification is related to "protecting" Barry in some way, it's not going to negate what he's done in the meantime. Things are going to get messy.

Carissa: Nobody wants to exercise the option of Booster Gold or Rip Hunter? Bummer. LOL

The Flash Season 1 Episode 3 Quotes

Cisco: Ah, sir, we just got the weather report and there is a big thunder storm coming in.
Harrison: We're not launching a space shuttle. We'll be fine.

We were very different. You may have noticed I'm a bit... guarded. Ronnie knew how to make me laugh. He used to say we were like fire and ice.
