Days of Our Lives Round Table: Christmas in Salem

at .

Salem played out some of our favorite holiday traditions this week on Days of Our Lives as the ornaments were hung on the Horton Christmas tree, the Christmas story was read at the hospital and the Bradys and Kiriakis families each celebrated the holiday.

Our TV Fanatic Christine Orlando is joined by Days fans Stickywicket and Wendylou from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum to discuss Doug's tantrum, Kimberly Donovan's return and which holiday party they'd like to crash in Salem.

Was Doug right to be hurt or was he being unreasonable over not being told about Aiden?

Stickywicket:  I think Hope should have told him because Hope and Doug have always been close, so it seemed a little out of character for Hope to keep this from him.

Wendylou:  I can definitely understand him being upset that his daughter didn't tell him she was seeing someone new. However, as Hope said, she wanted to tell him in person as it was a touchy subject. I think he went a bit overboard.

Christine:  I thought he was being unreasonable, especially when he was so rude to Aiden. Hope's s grown woman and she clearly explained that she wanted to tell him in person. Obviously letting Julie in on it was a bad call. Doug had the right to be a bit hurt but his reaction was over the top and I was proud of Hope for keeping calm in the face of his tantrum.

What did you think of Kimberly Donovan's return and should she come back to Salem?

Stickywicket:  Wow, where do I start. I absolutely loved seeing her again on screen. She still has that special magic. It doesn’t matter if she is in a scene with a newbie or a veteran she shines!

Wendylou:  I've never been a huge Kimberly fan but it's always nice to see the familiar faces. I am glad she was able to help Paige see through Eve's ridiculous scheming and lying about Shane's illness. I would have much rather seen Kimberly in scenes with Teresa though. I want to know more about their history and why Teresa is such a mess.

Christine:  I loved seeing Kim. She's always been one of my favorites but I felt this story line was a bit of a waste. I really want her to head to Salem and spend some quality time with Theresa. Those could be some great scenes and I can only hope they're coming soon.

Which Christmas celebration would you most like to attend: The Hortons, the Bradys or the Kiriakis?

Stickywicket:  I would have to say the Bradys, because I have always been a huge Kimberly Brady Donovan fan since her debut in 1984.

Wendylou:  Ooh, that's a tough one. I think I'd have to say the Hortons. The ornament hanging is an iconic Days moment each year and it always gives me goosebumps. However, if Phillip ever makes his way back to Salem, reserve a spot for me under the mistletoe at the Kiriakis Christmas celebration.

Christine:  As much as I love the Horton tree tradition, I think I'd have more fun at the Kiriakis Christmas. I'm just a huge fan of Victor's…and if Philip ever made his way back, all the better.

Do you think Brady and Melanie are headed towards coupledom? Do you want them together?

Stickywicket:  I think that is what the writers are hinting at. I would like them to just have a solid friendship, like Kimberly and Neil did back in the day, no romantic involvement.

Wendylou:  Sublety is not Days' strong suit. The writing is on the wall and it says, "Melanie and Brady are falling for each other." Long ago I did sort of want to see them as a couple but now I really don't. I like them as friends and I really would like to see Brady and Teresa get another chance as a SOBER couple. It's obvious Teresa still has feelings for Brady. I love Teresa and I'd like to see her happy with someone.

Christine:  Eh. I see these two as friends more than lovers but as Wendylou said, it's pretty clear the show wants them to be a romantic couple. My fear is that they're going to have Theresa do something really stupid to try and break them up and I simply dread seeing that story play out.

Julie commented on Ben being a better choice for Abigail then the two DiMeras. Which man did you enjoy seeing Abby with?

Stickywicket:  I did like seeing EJ and Abby together, I thought they had great chemistry on screen.

Wendylou: Honestly, none. Abby's relationships seem to be all sex and little else, including romance. So based on that, if I had to choose, I'd say the sex scenes with EJ were the hottest.

Christine:  I agree that Abby's relationships are all about the sex. With Chad/Cameron it felt like she was interviewing guys with whom to lose her virginity. With Ben there doesn't seem to be much more than sex and it's kind of boring. At least with EJ the sex scenes were hot and there was lots of drama so I've got to vote for him but I don't think Abigail's every really been in love. I wonder if we'll ever see her in that kind of relationship.

What, if anything, disappointed you this week in Salem?

Stickywicket:  I can’t say I was disappointed at all this week seeing Patsy/Kimberly back always puts a smile on my face and a song in my heart! She is fantastic!

Wendylou:  Well, as I said earlier, I really wanted Kimberly to have scenes with Teresa. I'm also disappointed that Days continues to try to endear viewers to new characters by hammering us over the head with them, in this case Serena. I didn't actually keep count but I'm pretty sure this chick was on every episode this week and not just in the background. I am so sick of her and her constant reminiscing with Eric about their great love that none of us ever saw. Spare me. I'm not buying it.

Christine:  Serena and Melanie suddenly being best gal pals was a little nauseating but Sonny having to practically force Will to take Ari to see Gabi was a pretty sad moment.

What was your favorite scene or story line from this week's Days of Our Lives.

Stickywicket:  My favorite story line by far was Kimberly Brady. I had been rethinking every scene that Kassie had been in since she started, wondering how would Charlotte Ross have played that part? The minute Patsy stepped into her role as Kimberly, I did not give it a second thought, Patsy worked her “magic” and made Kassie’s Eve believable for the first time for me!

Wendylou:  Well, it's Christmas week so it's hard to choose just one. This is truly Days' best week every year. The history and the feeling of family is so strong on the show during Christmas. I love it. I also loved seeing Gabi return.

Christine:  Seeing all of those Christmas ornaments on the Horton tree with names of all of those past characters is always heartwarming. I also loved the Kiriakis Christmas. I love seeing how in love Victor is with Maggie and yet he never loses his edge with the rest of the world.
