Grey's Anatomy Round Table: Who Should Be Meredith's New person?

at .

Welcome back to the Grey's Anatomy Round Table!

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 10 was all about loneliness. It gave Krystal Sondel, Stacy Glanzman, Amanda Steinmetz and Christina Tran plenty to discuss regarding the case of the week, Callie and Owen dating again and much more.

What was your favorite quote or scene from Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 10?

Stacy: My favorite scene was everyone waiting for the 3D model to finish printing and talking about their loneliness. I liked watching the girls bond and we learned a little more about Maggie’s past.

Krystal: Meredith in bed with the 3D model. She rocked that case, and I think it drove home the point that she is “alone” in bed because she wants to focus on her career. She could have packed up the kids and moved across the country to be with Derek, but she proved that her place is Seattle and she deserves her chance to shine.

Amanda: Definitely seeing Meredith in bed with that 3D tumor model.

Christina: 4 for 4! The 3D model storyline was awesome.

Make a bold prediction: Amelia saves Dr. Herman and/or Japril’s baby will survive.

Stacy: I am leaning towards neither at this point. I think Jackson and April’s baby surviving is too unrealistic, even for Grey’s, and I think Amelia’s overconfidence is foreshadowing that she’s going to fail. I won’t complain if I’m wrong though.

Krystal: I agree with Stacy that Jackson and April’s baby surviving would be a stretch even for Grey’s. I think Amelia’s storyline can go either way, but I’m honestly leaning towards her being able to save Dr. Herman. I don’t think it’s as much of a stretch, and it’s how medical breakthroughs happen. It’s not because easy stuff gets fixed - it’s because doctors have the guts to take risks and I think it’s an important story to tell (not only for medical professionals, but for all of us).

Amanda: I don’t think either would happen. It would be way too unrealistic for Japril’s baby to survive at this point. While tragic, this storyline is forcing April to confront her fears that maybe God has nothing to do with science or medicine. She’s beginning to have a crisis of faith. With Dr. Herman, I think it would be a long shot, but certainly more possible for her to survive Japril’s baby.

Christina: Miracles happen on Grey’s, but I think the former is more likely.

Should Meredith’s new person be Alex or Maggie?

Stacy: I’ve said before I love Meredith and Alex’s relationship and watching her groom him to be her person is pretty entertaining. Maggie, however, seems to be the more available option right now though. I don’t see any reason why Meredith can’t have two people!

Krystal: I’m so torn on this one because on one hand we have Alex Karev, and well, he’s Alex Karev and I want as much screentime for him as possible. On that other hand, though, is Maggie, and while my fellow round tablers have been on the fence about her, I’m all in on Maggie and have been from the start. I wouldn’t be disappointed either way, but if you are making me choose, I say Alex!

Amanda: While I love me some Alex Karev, I’d rather see Meredith develop a close bond with Maggie. No one can replace Christina as her “official” person. No one can replace Lexie even though Meredith was never really that close with her either. Maybe Meredith can learn to rely on family for support for once in her life.

Christina: Meredith has been trying to groom Alex to take the spot, but it hasn’t been going so well. I’d definitely like to see more of Maggie and Meredith at this point.

What did you think of the case of the week and the 3D model?

Stacy: I thought the 3D model was awesome, though Meredith sleeping with it was a little creepy, but seemed normal for her. I liked that the case brought everyone together in an episode that focused on loneliness.

Krystal: It was one of my favorite cases of the season. Probably in my top five cases of all time, definitely top ten. Grey’s has had a lot of fun, weird, inventive cases over the years and it’s impressive to think that this far into it the writers can still come up with creative cases out there.

Amanda: Definitely one of the better medical cases we’ve seen in a while. It served as a catalyst for characters opening up.

Christina: Like Stacy said, it was a great way to bring everyone together. The storyline let Meredith shine and I’m all for that.

Callie and Owen might be joining Tinder soon. Who will struggle more entering the dating realm?

Stacy: I think they’re both going to struggle. As long as they don’t start dating each other I’ll be happy. I like them as friends and supporting each other through the process of getting back out there.

Krystal: I think it’s great that the writers chose to pair these two together as friends. I think Callie will struggle more. Don’t get me wrong, I love Callie but sometimes she is a little awkward, in a totally adorable way but awkward nonetheless. Point and case - the scene in the bar with the saleswoman.

Amanda: There’s something about Owen on Tinder that makes me wince. I have a feeling he will struggle more in the dating pool. I agree with Stacy though. Keep them friends and only friends!

Christina: Something tells me that Owen will struggle more, and I’m glad Callie and Owen have each other.

Alex: The fact that you were checking your texts while you were doing it is already sad.
Meredith: We have a special ring tone. Hey you want a special ring tone?
Alex: No.

By the time I'm done with your tumor I'm going to be able to tell you what street this bastard grew up on and where it lost it's virginity.
