The Returned Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Rowan

at .

There's always that breaking point when enough is enough!

Rowan finally realized the years she wasted grieving Simon in The Returned Season 1 Episode 7.

Unfortunately for Simon, he got handed a lot more than rejection.

A Surprising Choice - The Returned

Tonight's episode opened up with a flashback to one year earlier when Rowan tried to kill herself.

I was not expecting her suicide attempt to have been so close to the present. I thought she tried to hurt herself closer to the time she lost Simon.

Her hallucinations of Simon were very creepy. Her brain presented a much more sinister version of Simon than what we've seen of him.

Simon: You should never have been a mother. Chloe deserves better. So does Tommy. You're just dragging them down. You're gonna ruin both their lives.
Rowan: You're not real. You're just in my head.
Simon: You're just like me, Rowan. That's why we belong together.

I loved her scene in the therapist's office. Now that she knows Simon killed himself and chose to leave her and their unborn child, she's pissed off.

It's understandable considering she spent all those years grieving and spending money in order to come to terms with his death.

Simon looked genuinely surprised to hear that he killed himself. He even accused Tommy of lying to her, which is something fans have speculated.

Tommy shooting Simon was a moment we needed to see happen because we have further proof the returned can be hurt. Simon was bleeding, just like Adam did when Tony hit him in the head with a shovel.

If Simon dies, will he be dead again? Will he wake up once more?

Camille was finally shown off to the bus crash support group. Her reappearance was clearly going to be a shock to those grieving parents, but some were bitter.

I can't say I blame them. I would be confused and angry if someone else's child returned, but mine didn't. Why Camille, who was apparently not very nice when she was alive? Why was she chosen out of all the kids who died?

Peter did what Claire and Jack have failed to do, which is tell Camille to stop acting like a baby. I agreed with Peter that Camille has been nothing but selfish since her return. The least she could do was give those people peace of mind, even if it was a lie.

Peter: Don't be selfish.
Camille: What?
Peter: You came back. Do you know how lucky you are to get a second chance at life? And what are you doing with it? Nothing, except feeling sorry for yourself.

I'm glad we're getting to the point where more people know about the returned. We need to get answers soon, and the townspeople will definitely want answers.

Does dying and coming back change a person's brain? I ask because now Adam has no desire to kill and eat women's stomachs.

Well, at least not Lena's.

I also ask about people's personalities because I wonder if Helen was always this crazy.

All she ever seems to talk about is the town and how everyone should have died in the flood. Now she knows there is a way to destroy the dam.

Still, I can't imagine Helen has a bomb lying around or knows how to make one.

The dam has been mentioned a lot so we know it plays a big part in whatever is going on. There's the dead animals, the black water in the sink, and now water in Camille's coffin.

With all this talk about it not breaking again, you have to suspect the dam will burst by season's end.

So over to you guys! What did you think of the episode? What will happen to Simon now that he's been shot? Why was Camille's coffin filled with water? What are your predictions for The Returned Season 1 Episode 7?
