iZombie Season 1 Episode 11 Review: Astroburger

Who else feels terribly cheated and tricked and whyyyyyyy?

As it turns out, iZombie Season 1 Episode 11 was full of trickery. No way am I the only one who jumped for joy as Liv confessed her zombie secret identity to Major and then sank into despair as she realized that the whole thing had been a freaking hallucination. Life is just so unfair!

Liv in the Car - iZombie

I guess that's what you get when you eat the brains of a schizophrenic who regularly talks to the devil?

All things considered, the devil hallucinations were a little bizarre, but they only served to act as a totally effective red herring for Liv's real hallucinations. Johnny Frost turning out to be a total fake was a shock, but not as much as Major turning out to be one, too! Did he ever even stay with her? Did they ever even snuggle?

Worst of all, Liv's confession – and Major's compassionate understanding of it – went up in smoke as Major stormed in with a mission to kill all the zombies in Seattle.

Liv: How does it feel to finally know the truth?
Major: Better.

This was cruel, cruel punishment for all the Liv and Major fans out there, myself included!

For the most part, it did feel a little too easy. Major would likely be pretty pissed that Liv had kept something so huge from him, let alone let him think he was crazy. But still, a shipper can dream, can't she?

Speaking of shippers, fans of Liv and Blaine must be happy that the two zombies are finally sharing screen time together again. Maybe not as happy as they'd be if those two would stop playing murder games with each other though...

Liv's decision not to poison Blaine turned out to be a good one in the long run. She had no idea how poison would affect a zombie, but she would have found out first hand after he forced her to drink the Max Rager cocktail first. Say what you want about Blaine, he's a clever one.

Though you have to wonder about his relationship with our murder victim, Scott. Something tells me Blaine wasn't the "visit you in the loony bin" type of friend to his fellow drug dealers. Which begs the question: why was he visiting Scott at all?

Major: You want to feel better about your mental health? Spend a couple days with some clinically insane people.
Peyton: I do it every thanksgiving.

The procedural element really knocked it out of the park this week. Linking this seemingly common murder to not only Major, but Blaine and the boat party? Genius. This new theme of using the crime of the week as a stepping stone to solving the zombie mystery is making the whole show more enjoyable. Keep them coming, iZombie!

Elsewhere, Ravi's date with Peyton took a backseat to his groundbreaking discovery that he'd actually managed to cure his zombie rat. Or at least he appeared to. Figuring out whether or not Peyton and Ravi started dating off screen feels less important than figuring out if Ravi has managed to find this ever-elusive cure.

The biggest question for Ravi now is what will he do with a cure? If he does manage to transfer it to human form, he might be in a bit of danger. I don't imagine Blaine would want his meals on wheels operation shut down by a cure.

Unfortunately, Ravi is not the only one who should be looking over his shoulder.

Now that Major has stolen all of Blaine's very expensive astronaut brains, the entire Meat Cute goon squad is on the hunt for his stolen product. Run while you can Major!

Liv, too, is in danger, as a video of her chowing down on brains after the catastrophic boat party has apparently been leaked to the press. Her zombie-ism might be getting very public, very fast.

Overall, tonight's episode was probably the strongest of the season thus far, so make sure to watch iZombie online if you dared to miss it!

iZombie Season 1 Episode 11 Quotes

I got a giant Indian to throw a sink through the window and jumped to freedom. Nah, I'm just kidding. I checked myself out.

Major

Liv: Careful, don't open yourself up to the classic, reverse Sicilian gambit. That's a chess thing, right?
Major: Sounds more like something a call girl would make you pay extra for.
