Grey's Anatomy: What Does the Future Hold for Callie and Arizona?

We know a time jump will take place on Grey's Anatomy Season 12.

We also know some new romances are on the horizon, courtesy of scoop offered up by Shonda Rhimes at the Television Critics Association press tour this summer.

But what about Callie and Arizona? What does the future hold for these parents and former couple?

Look for the former to seek out a new love interest and for the latter to take issue with this development, according to producer Debbie Allen.

"When two people have had this kind of committed, tumultuous relationship - and it has been that - and then finally they go their separate ways, there's still love there," Allen tells TV Guide.

"Even though you've moved on, you're always going to go, 'Well, who is she with? And what is that?' There's going to be questions about that and feelings. Because when there's love, there's always feelings."

Tension may very well boil over between the pair, Allen adds. But they can’t exact avoid each other.

"When people have children together, they can't divorce totally," Allen says. "You still have to see them, whether you can't stand them or not."
