Under the Dome Season 3 Episode 13 Review: The Enemy Within

Is that really how the story ends?
Under the Dome Season 3 Episode 13 was indeed the series finale, and it didn't quite have the closure you'd have expected. In fact, I'd even go as far as to say that it was a slap in the face to us fans who have hung in there for three seasons for a conclusion to a show that should have ended after the first run.
As much as I've complained about the villains this season, I actually kind of enjoyed Dawn. She wasn't that annoying. However, her dialog was tedious. Yes, we understood that she wasn't a human and didn't think like one. We have seen these aliens on the show all summer long, so if Barbie thought she was going to be all sentimental, he was deluded.
It was nice that the dome came down. I expected it to happen in the last few minutes. The whole flash forward was rather intriguing. Jim finally got a leadership role he so desperately wanted. I did find it crazy that the government got involved and made out the whole dome was Aktion testing a new energy.
It pissed me off that we didn't get to see the villain being taken down. It was clear the writers had a fourth season in mind, and given the way the final 20 minutes of the finale played out, it could have been rather interesting.
I wasn't annoyed at all that we lost Junior and Sam. It was a long time coming, and they both brought zero to the show. They were partly to blame for the declining fortunes of Under The Dome Season 3. Make no mistake, this was the worst season of any show I've ever watched, but there were a few bright spots.
Norrie showed us how much she really loved Joe this week as he sacrificed himself in order to help take the dome down and I totally wasn't buying that he was dead, either. Norrie's new career choice was stupid to say the least, but she obviously knew there was a chance Joe was alive.
When it's all said and done, Jim, Julia, Barbie, Hunter and Lily reunite because a video of Dawn popped up which proving that she is alive. As much as everyone is in denial, they know that they are in danger.
This all leads to a scene with Dawn telling a group of kids to go away and then we get to see what they are going on about. Another egg. Her plan is obvious, but it makes little sense. There should have been more closure than this. She should have been killed off!
"The Enemy Within" wasn't one of the worst series finales, but it sure was rather disappointing. We've invested so much time into this show, so we should have gotten a decent ending.
Other tidbits from the episode:
- It seemed a little weird that Joe's whistle would be what took the dome down, right?
- I didn't care for Julia and Barbie's engagement – at all.
- Did anyone else love how Indy saved Jim?
