Gotham Season 2 Episode 11 Review: Worse Than a Crime

at .  Updated at .

There were a lot more surprises than there were disappointments on Gotham Season 2 Episode 11.

While I'm certainly not sorry to see Galavan go, I am disappointed that he didn't put up much of a fight. What happened to the Galavan we saw in Gotham Season 2 Episode 10? I was expecting a little bit more of that Galavan, not a Galavan who pretty much resigned himself to his fate.

It did not seem in Galavan's character to beg for his life. And I thought it was pretty cheap of Jim to take the easy way out. Why not let Penguin finish the job his way? But I liked what Penguin did with the umbrella. Galavan definitely deserved that.

He also deserved getting kicked in the face by Tabitha. That was unexpected. She should have done that a long time ago. Ever since Barbara was injured, Tabitha has changed. I liked how she became protective of Silver. Maybe she saw herself in the girl. It's going to be interesting to see where those two went, and if they'll come back.

Will Tabitha avenge her brother's death? Will Silver reunite with Bruce?

As we all knew, Bruce was never in danger of actually getting killed. What was awesome, though, was the lead up to the ridiculous Son of Gotham ceremony (the "Death to the Son of Gotham" chant was so lame). The conversations between Silver and Bruce were amazing, and I absolutely loved the brooding Bruce we saw.

Did anyone else catch his reference to dolphin sonar capabilities? Things are starting to churn in that boy's head for sure.

But maybe things have always been churning, and we just didn't know it. Bruce has been changing, that's for sure. That little brat boy we saw at the beginning of the season has been slowly disappearing. It's mind blowing to see how far he's come in such a short time. How did that even happen?

Bruce used to be the most boring character in this series. Remember how we all used to bang our heads against the wall and question how this whiny kid was ever going to become Batman? Kudos to the writers for that subtle development.

What a surprise to see Lucius Fox again! Was he down in the "batcave" this whole time just working on the computer? Mind boggling to say the least, but I'm going to let that bit of head scratching go because LUCIUS FOX IS BACK!  He adds so much value and depth to this show, I hope he is in every episode for the rest of the season.

One of the best scenes of the hour was when Nygma threw out the riddle about Gordon's whereabouts and Fox figured it out lickety split. Nygma wasn't expecting that. I don't think anyone was.

Jim certainly wasn't expecting the news that his lovely Lee was expecting. I was surprised since I had read that the writers weren't going to work Morena Baccarin's real-life pregnancy into the show. But I loved how it was done. The best part wasn't Jim's reaction to the news...it was Penguin's.

What was a better Jim reaction was when he woke up in Nygma's apartment to Nygma and Penguin singing. It definitely was a "What the hell?" moment. Kind of like when Selina showed up in Nygma's window. I find it amazing that she always knows where the happenings are happening.

I also found it amazing that a group of older men had no problem suiting up a 16-year-old-girl to fight some crazy monks to save Bruce Wayne.

The fight scene between the monks and the good guys (and I include Penguin and his goons in the good guys) was absolutely ludicrous, but awesome at the same time. Selina really kicked some ass, and I hope Bruce saw her flip her whip around to help save his ass.

How did a bunch of monks think they were going to be able to take down a bunch of guys with guns? And was that a flying Father Creel? That was truly bizarre.

I'm glad to see the whole stupid Blood of Nine storyline has come to an end. None of it made any sense, and most of it left me with more questions than answers anyway. And good riddance to Galavan, at least for now. I wonder what Dr. Strange has in store for the umbrella-pierced Theo Galavan?
