Scorpion Season 2 Episode 10 Review: Arrivals and Departures

I never expected for Scorpion to make me cry this much.

On Scorpion Season 2 Episode 10, we said goodbye to Megan O'Brien. A lot of the hour was spent in tears. I'm still a mess right now, so bear with me while I try to formulate coherent thoughts.

First off, I really wish we had seen more of Megan. Recently the focus has been on how others have been dealing with her decline, so Sylvester and Walter got a lot of great moments talking about Megan or being the ones to share something that happened like Sylvester breaking the news that he and Megan got married.

Megan has been unconscious for most of it. There would be brief moments, but not nearly enough. In this hour, it made sense why she wasn't super talkative, but I just wish we saw more of her.

The video at the end was a great way to remind everyone of who Megan truly is. She is a loving sister and a fighter. Megan passing along those words of wisdom to her brother was probably one of my favorite moments. Oh god, I'm crying again.

Don't be afraid of who you really are. You are not your brain. You are your heart.

Megan

My only issue with the video was the whole intercom situation. It was unnecessary. I wish Megan and Walter could have had just one moment alone together. Everyone listening in felt like an intrusion that accomplished nothing. All it did was show everyone who Megan loved her brother, which didn't really need to be said.

It was really smart to make Toby do most of the heavy lifting in terms of the case. Not only did it allow Toby a chance to shine as a medical doctor, but Walter was given time to react and breakdown over not being in the room with Megan when she needed him the most. It would have been much harder to have those moments if Walter had to progress the case along.

She's the most important person that I've ever had in my life.

Walter

We FINALLY got to hear Walter talk about what Megan means to him. It is about freaking time.

Walter's been running away from the problem by throwing himself into an impossible solution. He has treated Megan's illness like an equation and not like his sister is dying. It was so heartbreaking to hear Walter talk about how much Megan means to him, and his breakdown over being trapped made me tear up.

We rarely see this side of Walter. We got to see more of just how special and important Megan is to him, and this hour featured the moment where Walter realized he couldn't save his sister. Hopefully, we see some kind of a change in Walter moving forward. I'm not sure what exactly the change should be, but Megan's death needs to have a lasting impact on his life.

Louise and Sean O'Brien are in the house! I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. It was so lame.

I'll admit, I was really worried when they first appeared. It looked like Papa O'Brien was going to be a killjoy and spend the entire hour disapproving of everyone except for Megan. I'm so glad I was wrong.

Megan, my whole life I've been told I was brilliant for a million different reasons, but falling in love with you was the smartest thing I ever did. I will always love you.

Sylvester

The parents brought some comic relief, well at least at the beginning when they met Sly. Instead of focusing on them disapproving of Sly and Walter, we got to see them grow closer. It was fun seeing Papa O'Brien help out with the case, but it would have been nice to see more of Mama O'Brien.

I'm not an expert on medical cures or anything, but did anyone else find it weird that Sylvester's obsession with antibacterial soap somehow lead to him curing an ancient fungus? Did this not click with anyone else?

It felt like a last minute fix to solve this case. Team Scorpion can do a lot of things, but developing a cure for an ancient fungus seems a little out of their area of expertise. The stakes were raised too high, and there probably should have been at least one infections disease doctor still conscious to consult.

Then, of course, we had a member of Team Scorpion's life in danger. On the bright side, Happy was infected maybe a couple minutes before the cure took over, so while her life was in danger, it kind of wasn't. Look, even Toby seemed to be sort of okay with Happy's situation, so you know it couldn't have been too serious.

What did you think of this tearjerker of an episode? What did you think of the intercom eavesdropping? Did you enjoy meeting Walter and Megan's parents? Leave your tears in a comment below. Remember you can watch Scorpion online anytime via TV Fanatic.
