... Tyler Hoechlin!
Not long after producers confirmed that Supergirl Season 2 would feature a multiple-episode visit from Superman, the CW (formerly CBS) drama has announced that Hoechlin has landed this iconic role.
He will guest star on the first two installments of the series this fall as The Man of Steel.
“[Executive producer] Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” Supergirl showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement.
“We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
Best known for his role on Teen Wolf alpha Derek Hale, Hoechlin’s previous TV credits also include:
7th Heaven, Lincoln Heights, Castle, My Boys and CSI: Miami.
On Superman Season 1, viewers were treated to the very occasional glimpses of Superman, but we never saw his face.
This will now change when he stops by to spend time with cousin Kara (played by Melissa Benoist) in National City.
