Scandal Season 6: Jessalyn Gilsig Joins in Recast

at .

Jake's wife, Vanessa, is going to look a little different when Scandal Season 6 arrives in 2017.

While it hasn't been confirmed by ABC, the role appears to have been recast.

Original actress, Joelle Carter, got a gig on Chicago Justice (also coming in 2017), so Jessalyn Gilsig will get to do any television snuggery required by the role.

Of course, if things continue in the vein of Scandal Season 5, we may not see much of Gilsig at all.

Olivia was trying to get Jake to leave Vanessa at the alter.

The only reason Jake didn't do it was because Rowan, sweet, daddy dearest, threatened to kill him.

Gilsig is used to being tugged between characters, both men and women, for purposes of plot.

She most recently played Siggy on History's Vikings. You either loved her or you hated her.

Me? I cried my eyes out when she took her leave.

Gilsig also starred as Terri Schuester on Glee, mostly seen during seasons one and two when being Mr. Schuester's wife kept her around.

What do you think of this recasting?

Will you even notice? Is it weird when there are recasts on primetime, even though it's done on daytime all the time?

Scandal doesn't return until 2017, so there will be plenty of time to forget all about the first person who played Vanessa.

And with the return of Scandal will come the return of #TGIT!

Because with Scandal's hiatus, #TGIT has been benched.

Not only is the tagline most associated with Scandal, but it's also associated with Shondaland and there's an interloper this Fall.
