You know what happens when new blood is introduced onto This Is Us?
It likely means there's another twist ahead.
This new blood will come in the way of True Blood alum Sam Trammell, who will be joining the freshman series in a recurring capacity.
Here's everything we know about the new character:
His name is Ben. He's the frontman of a popular blues/jazz band and will first appear later this year.
I know!! If that doesn't just blow your socks off and get the excitement pumping, I don't know what will. Surely, I jest.
This Is Us has aired twice this season on NBC and earned a full-season pickup after the premiere. It focuses on a group of people who have just had their 36th birthday and their loved ones and the way their lives intertwine.
There are a lot of twists and turns.
If you haven't seen the show yet, just skip to the bottom and do what it says down there to catch up with us. It's time to guess where Ben might fit in.
We know now that Ben could be just about anywhere in this world inside a 36-year span. But because his role is recurring, it will most likely be a span of time in which any one character will spend a lot of it.
Who would spend a lot of time at a place they could get to know a frontman of a blues/jazz band?
Here are my two cents on the topic.
With Kevin moving to New York City, what better place to find than a jazz bar he loves, someplace close to home he's comfortable and can go to escape after a day of theater auditions?
He could strike up a friendship with Ben and jazzy Ben could show Kevin around the city. Sounds plausible.
But another actor who has yet to make her debut is also coming in to mingle with Kevin (Janet Montgomery), so maybe not.
It we're going to see Jack struggling with his alcoholism before the time he just vowed to tear it asunder to Rebecca, that would be another time someone could find himself in a situation when he'd get friendly with a frontman of a blues/jazz band.
Why I've decided Ben has to be introduced at a bar? I have no idea. Why else would the only thing we learn about him be that he's a frontman in a blues/jazz band?
No matter how he fits in, Trammell will be a great addition to an already wonderful cast. Each new casting announcement seems like yet another perfect fit.
