American Horror Story Round Table: The Unfortunate History of Thomasin White

at .

Finally, after weeks of mystery and intrigue, we know something tangible about the ghostly villain who appears to be at the center of American Horror Story Season 6's mystery.

American Horror Story Season 6 Episode 3 presented us with the history of "the Butcher," the mysterious figure played by Kathy Bates. Originally known as Thomasin White, she bargained away her soul to a woodland witch/demon/creature/thing played by Lady Gaga – who Matt also got uncomfortably up close and personal with – much to Shelby's horror and disgust.

Join the round table discussion for "Chapter 3," as our TV Fanatics Yana, Amanda and Paul chat about the Butcher's backstory, what they thought of new character Cricket Marlowe, and the most horrifying moment of the week!

What did you think of the Butcher's backstory?

Yana: It was intense and not at all what I expected. It's a character I would love to see more of now and maybe find out what is up with Lady Gaga's character.

Amanda: For such a menacing character, her backstory is actually really sad. I don't blame her for wanting revenge on those men. Unfortunately, it looks like she had to sell her soul to do it.

Paul: I liked it. It gave Kathy Bates a lot of emotional scenes to work with and showed us that there was a method to her madness.

New character alert! We met Cricket Marlowe this week. What did you think of him?

Yana: Loved him! He brought a different energy to that house. The sad vibe was getting to be a little much. I hope we see even more of him, because he is finally introducing some answers and could lead them all to the Lost Colony.

Amanda: Cricket was awesome! From the minute he started talking, I knew we were in for a memorable character. I hope he can be more than a plot device, though.

Paul: Cricket was downright hilarious. I was shocked to the core when he asked for money. I hope his story has some sort of link to Murder House.

We found out that Lee once had another young daughter, who went missing and was never recovered. Does this change how you feel about Lee? Do you think she harmed Emily, Flora, or her now-dead ex Mason?

Yana: I doubt it. She is fine in the present, and it doesn't look like any charges were brought up against her for Emily's disappearance, so I don't think there is much of a story about Emily. I may be wrong, but we were told that Flora was led away by the ghosts so I don't see that being contradicted. They just needed a basis on which to get Lee arrested and shake things up.

Amanda: I don't think Lee had anything to do with her children being taken from her, but I could be wrong. She's either messed up far beyond what we think or she has terrible luck.

Paul: I don't think she had anything to do with it. The shock about her previous kid was the Intel we needed to understand just why she became who she was when we met her on American Horror Story Season 6 Episode 1.

What was the creepiest/weirdest/grossest/otherwise most intense moment?

Yana: There isn't much that shocks me on American Horror Story anymore, but this season is all about the weird pig stuff. Anything that has to do with that weirds me out. But the mask that the Butcher was forced to wear was pretty crazy too. I can't imagine having that on my head and not freaking out.

Amanda: The feral boys suckling the pig... I have nothing more to say.

Paul: I'm with Amanda. That was so shocking and disgusting.

Matt (willingly or unwillingly) cheated on Shelby with the Lady Gaga Forest Demon Witch Thing, and Shelby called the cops on Lee. Is their marriage irreparably broken?

Yana: Are we supposed to care? I was waiting to see how much longer until we got a graphic sex scene and now I have a feeling that a pregnancy will find its way into this season too. It happened during the first two seasons, so why not now? I can see both sides of the story, but in the end, they all decided to stay there so whatever happens after shouldn't come as much of a shock.

Amanda: I don't think the marriage will be break. It'll be fractured, but unless they're currently divorced in the present, I don't see the marriage falling apart this early.

Paul: There's no way that is it for them. They'll find a way to work through their issues.
