Arrow Season 5 Episode 6 Review: So It Begins

at .  Updated at .

Can we all just collectively agree that Quentin Lance is not Prometheus?

On Arrow Season 5 Episode 6, Prometheus stepped up his reign of terror on the residents of Star City, but the villain was seemingly revealed to be Quentin in the closing scenes of the hour.

We'll come back to that in a little. Let's go all the way back to Diggle and Oliver trying to find out more about Prometheus. I felt like they undermined the recruits, and Evelyn was right to be annoyed with Oliver.

They're meant to be a team, and it kind of solidified the fact that there's absolutely no way that Oliver thinks they can cut it. I understood where Oliver came from when he noted that he was worried about the recruits, but it just did not sit well with anyone concerned.

It's doubtful he'll be keeping secrets from them in future. Maybe this needed to happen to show just how passionate the recruits are for keeping the mean streets of Star City safe from the villain.

What was pretty great about Prometheus was the fact he was using names from the book Oliver was given by his father. This proves Prometheus is pretty much guaranteed to be someone we have already met on the show.

I'm intrigued to find out who the person could be, but I will probably quit the show if it turns out to be Malcolm Merlyn. John Barrowman's opportunistic character has been MIA this season, and I can't help but think it's to reintroduce him as the villain.

Merlyn is a manipulative person, so it would not surprise me in the slightest if he was planting the weapons on Lance and cutting him in order to make him think he's the killer.

Lance is probably questioning himself about the whole thing since it was revealed that he has never really been on the wagon. This was pretty surprising when you consider the fact that he's been an asset to the team.

Unfortunately, that all came to a head this week, but did anyone else really think Thea was not going to find anything in his office? If anything, I was sure she was getting caught first.

Then, when she found the alcohol, I was sure there was going to be some sort of explanation that made all the sense in the world. That was not the case.

Thea knew something was not quite right with her friend, so that's why she knew she had to find out the truth. It probably hurt to go through his things, but it made sense for her.

Elsewhere, Felicity finally coming clean to Malone about her involvement with the Arrow was pretty random. He was taken aback, and I didn't think he was going to believe her.

His attitude changed very quickly. Just wait until he finds out she was about to marry the Arrow. That won't go down well.

Is anyone else sick of Susan yet? I was just waiting on her using her intel on Oliver that he was not on the island when he said he was, but instead, she was just hanging around for interviews with him.

It's going to get interesting when she finally starts revealing the goodies about Oliver's past.

"So It Begins" was another solid installment of this superhero drama. It's clear the writers are at least trying to right some of the wrongs of the past two seasons and it seems to be paying off.

Other tidbits from the episode:

  • Oliver finally coming face-to-face with Kovar in the flashbacks was everything I hoped it would be, but I can't wait to find out just how Oliver manages to win the battle.
  • The fight scene on the train was mediocre. Oliver really has an arrow to save himself and the others from anything. Right? I yearn for the day he uses the wrong one, just for the sheer fact that there's too many different variations of them.
  • Thea's idea for the party was great, but would the people even remember the favors they owed her? I mean, the city is dealing with a new villain every other week.
  • Wild Dog is definitely growing on me, but he just needs to find a way to keep his comments to himself.

Arrow Season 5 Episode 6 Quotes

Prometheus is trying to bait me. I don't want to put the recruits in harm's way until we know exactly what we're dealing with.

Oliver

These killings are some kind of message that Prometheus is sending to Oliver.
