It's almost time to return the enthralling world of Westeros as Game of Thrones returns for its penultimate season, and while most fans tend to avoid spoilers for the show, there are some who just cannot wait to spoil the show for everyone on the internet.

With spoilers lurking around every corner of the internet about Game of Thrones Season 7, it's becoming ever more difficult to steer clear of them.

Here's the thing: I've invested almost seven years of my life watching and obsessing over the series, so the very notion of not being able to sit down and have my socks blown off by the bat$hit crazy developments is just not good.

We've heard the stories of professors threatening to spoil the show for their rowdy students and things, but the spoilers that are plastered all over the internet for Season 7 are enough to make people not want to watch the show.

It's not fun to sit down and know every reveal that's going to happen. Funnily enough, not all of the spoilers floating around are legit. Some of them sound like pretty crazy fan-fiction, while some could be grounded enough to be the real thing.

The show has become shrouded in so much secrecy that HBO no longer sends out screeners to critics beforehand. As the reviewer of Game of Thrones, I'm happy to sit down and watch it until silly o'clock because the show is unlike any other on TV.

It's unsurprising to hear that the cast and crew on the show are not entirely impressed with the spoilers making their way on to the internet. The show takes so long to make that fans are on tenterhooks waiting for the next season.

“I get so angry about it like we all do,” Kit Harington revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

“Even some publications I would think better of using them. There’s nothing you can do about it. People for some reason want to spoil things for other people and, hopefully, most people don’t look at the stuff."

"For those who do, it’s so easy to slip up and see something you don’t want to see.”

Aiden Gillen (Littlefinger) even stays quiet about what's going on with those closest to him.

“You think about all the work you do,” he says. “I’d never say anything to anybody — even my closest family members. I take security very seriously. Maybe that’s just the Littlefinger in me.”

Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) echoes what her co-stars said about keeping things on the down low but had great reasons for it.

“It’s the world we live in, and people are very curious and excited about the show,” she says.

“I love the element of surprise. There’s something wonderfully child-like about receiving something you didn’t expect and the more your favorite TV show and films that can be protected the better. But I understand people are excited.”

With the rise of drones, it's becoming easier for people who want to spoil something to find out some of the details. That's part of the reason why most of the filming locations are secret.

However, sometimes pictures are still taken, but Conleth Hill (Varys) notes that the pictures are not always what they seem.

“We have nothing against the genuine fan, it’s just the asshole element of your profession," he begins.

"They get it all wrong anyway. They’ll take a photo between two actors between shots and say they’re in a scene together.”

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss think it's not worth refuting spoilers because there are just so many out there that finding a genuine one is difficult.

“Thankfully, there are so many false rumors — which makes us happy, because it becomes harder for people to know what’s real and what’s not real,” Benioff says.

“We will do everything we can to keep [leaks] from happening, but some of this is on people who watch the show.”
