Teen Wolf Review: The End is Near

at .

Wow, Mason healed really quickly.

On Teen Wolf Season 6 Episode 18 and Teen Wolf Season 6 Episode 19, everything appears to be fine. Mason and Lydia weren't complaining of lingering pain from, you know, being shot or undergoing surgery or anything. There's no evidence of trauma, which is Teen Wolf's main problem with these final ten episodes.

When we started, it appeared like this war was going to be a personal attack on Scott and the pack. I mean Gerard came back, so how could it not be personal?

Anuke-Ite Battle Training

The issue is that from a story perspective, it hasn't been treated that way.

We haven't really seen Scott breaking down over how he believes his actions have caused his parents and friends to end up in the hospital. Aside from Liam, we haven't seen how the hatred and fear that the citizens of Beacon Hills now hold for the pack has affected everyone.

Mason was back, strategizing with Liam, Scott, and even Theo, as if he had months to recover from what happened, but odds are in Teen Wolf land it was only a day or two since the shooting.

You see this? A silver bullet. Every legend has a little truth to it. Isn't that right? The legend is that you need silver to kill a werewolf. The truth? You need an Argent.

Gerard

The phone that had Mrs. Finch's voicemail on it was found on the bodies of the werewolves that was discovered on Teen Wolf Season 6 Episode 17, and so it's doubtful that Scott sat on that phone for a week waiting for Mason to be somewhat well enough to help brainstorm about what the voicemail means.

Also, Lydia probably didn't wait too long after that vision to try to figure out what was going on with Halwyn. All of this suggests that it's probably the day after the events of Teen Wolf Season 6 Episode 17 that we pick up, which means that it's the day after Lydia and Mason were hospitalized from the shooting.

If you ignore the shooting, then the pacing was done nicely. Scott and Liam actually got to do some detective work by identifying Mrs. Finch as the voice on the phone.

It was not rushed, and we got to have some fun with Liam attempting to smoke out Mrs. Finch. The same can be said for the lead-up to Monroe making her big move with all the guns (seriously, so many guns).

Can't let my GPA go down just because I got beat up in class.

Liam

Nothing was rushed. We spent time learning how to fight the anuke-ite and uncovering another aspect of Monroe's scheme, and it all nicely lead up to this big showdown that will continue into the finale.

But of course, you can't ignore the shooting because it affected so many of our beloved characters; well it kind of did.

Because of the lack of repercussions, it's hard to really be excited about the finale. There's no fear, no concern about whether or not the pack will make it out alive, so you are basically just watching at this point for familiar faces (mainly Stiles at this point) to pop back up.

It's the only thing to look forward to, but even then, everyone's return has not been handled in the best way.

Look, I love Derek Hale. I had the biggest smile on my face whenever it became clear that the story Argent's contact was saying was about Derek and when he finally appeared on my screen. He's one of my favorite characters, and I've missed him.

The legend that surrounded him was hilarious, especially Argent's reactions to it, but with one episode left, it's not really a good use of time to jump to Brazil. It detracts away from the momentum that should be building up to this finale, to this final fight.

Argent: I need to find Derek Hale.
Argent's Contact: You can't just find him. They said he turned into a wolf and disappeared into the fog!
Argent: He drove a car.
Argent's Contact: The lobos homem drives no car.
Argent: Trust me, he drove.

Plus, who the hell wanted to see Kate Argent again? I'm pretty sure no one did. For a moment, I was hoping it was Stiles, but no, it was Kate. Ugh.

All right, there's just one episode left, and then it's bye-bye Teen Wolf.

While it does seem like the "final" fight is upon us, what with Monroe making her move at the hospital and at the ship yard, it doesn't feel like the pack is prepared.

Searching for the Anuke-Ite

Unless the next episode somehow spans at least a week (which I hope it does not), how are Derek, Stiles, and Argent supposed to show up in time? It's at least a ten-hour flight from Brazil to California, and then who knows how long and far Derek will track Kate.

Hopefully, things are wrapped up nicely, but it does seem like as soon as the anuke-ite is killed, the "war" will be over because Monroe and Gerard will lose most if not all of their army. What are your theories on how Teen Wolf will end?

Liam: Stop the anuke-ite.
Scott: Stop the war.

What did you think of the episode? Isn't Gerard teaming up with the anuke-ite the most on-brand thing that Gerard has ever done? I could not stop laughing. Leave your thoughts and hopes for the finale in the comments below.
