Will Fitz and Olivia be a couple at the end?

That was the big question on Scandal Season 7 Episode 3 when it became apparent that the pair had been avoiding each other. 

Below, TV Fanatics Christine Orlando, Lizzy Buczak and Toshia Smith discuss the latest developments for the characters after learning about what Fitz got up to. 

What did you think of Rowan showing up to tell Fitz about Olivia?

Christine: Talk about a twist I never saw coming! When even Rowan is scared of Olivia and how the power has gone to her head, you know it’s bad.

I don’t know what pull Fitz will have over Olivia, but I don’t think she’s to the point of putting a bullet in his head if he’s used against her like Rowan did with his first love, so maybe there is hope. 

Lizzy: If Rowan is scared, we should all be scared. I'm also glad he finally acknowledged that Olivia loves Fitz and accepted that he has influence over her. I don't know if Fitz can bring her back from her power trip, but maybe he'll be able to talk some sense into her. 

Toshia: I think Rowan realizes he has no control over Liv anymore. He’s right. All the other Commands were in B613 before, so they understood its use.

Liv tried to wear the White Hat all the time, so she will start to make decisions “for the greater good” while the others understood that they weren’t good people. Olivia believes she can save everything and that belief will be her downfall.

Are you over Olitz at this stage?

Christine: I’ve been over them for a while. I’m rooting for David and Abby to get back together, I was heartbroken in that moment where I thought Charlie might be leaving Quinn, and I hope Mellie finds love, but I can’t say I care much if Olivia and Fitz get back together or not. 

Lizzy: I do hope that they find their way back to each other in the end, but it's not my focus for the remainder of the season. Liv is too involved right now whereas Fitz is enjoying his time in Vermont and we're actually seeing the human side of him.

At this point, they don't have much in common. I am, however, rooting for David and Abby and want to see Mellie and Marcus figure things out! 

Toshia: No. I’m a huge Olitz fan. Because believe it or not, Fitz grounds Olivia. He treats her like a person he loves and a partner in crime, rather than this god-like figure on a pedestal.

How long will it be before Mellie and Marcus become a thing?

Christine: Hopefully before the series ends! As I said, I’d like to see Mellie find love and I think she and Marcus could be a good fit. 

Lizzy: Hopefully soon. I loved them together, and she needs a good man like Marcus. I especially loved when he called her for advice on how to deal with her ex-husband, and she was willing to help him work through it.

Toshia:  I’ve always wanted Mellie to have someone of her own. She needs a companion, and hopefully, she’ll find him before the season’s end, even if it isn’t Marcus.

Was it a mistake to have a Fitz-centric episode so early in the season?

Christine: No, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I liked that they showed his flaws and his ability to do good, but my favorite part was hearing Mellie school Marcus in the phases of a relationship with Fitzgerald Grant. It was funny because it was so truthful. 

Lizzy: Definitely not. There were two episodes this season that he wasn't apart of. Everyone was getting worried and curious as to what he was doing in Vermont. We needed to see things from his perspective to get the full picture. 

Toshia: No. We needed to see what he was up too while Mellie and Liv ran the world. His life is boring now, but I guess that’s how he wanted it. Now viewers see why Liv gave up Vermont. She couldn’t do boring.

Are there any characters who should appear more?

Christine: I wish there was a little my Cyrus. Other than that, I’m happy with the balance overall; I just hope that we get to see a few happy endings before it’s all over. 

Lizzy: I think every character gets a decent amount of screentime, but I hope we get some closure to all the storylines. I'd also like to see Abby and Liv rekindle their friendship and Quinn become a mother. 

Toshia:  I want to see more of Abby. She’s back at OPA after being Chief of Staff for the President. She’s actually more of a boss lady than Quinn.
