Arrow Season 6 Episode 8 Review: Crisis On Earth-X, Part 2

at .  Updated at .

Hopefully, you watched Supergirl Season 3 Episode 8 so this installment made a bit of sense because the epic Arrowverse crossover continued with Arrow Season 6 Episode 8 as evil forces of Earth-X have arrived on Earth-1.

But things got complicated when our heroes had to face evil versions of...themselves!

Evil DC TV Trinity - Arrow Season 6 Episode 8

Part 2 of the crossover is where things got extremely slow for good and bad reasons. Even though I'm extremely uncomfortable with the Nazi versions of our heroes, this is a compelling threat so far.

Although can someone please explain the timey-wimey of Eobard Thawne being back again? Not only that, but why does he look like Harrison Wells?

I'm only guessing it's because they couldn't get Matt Letscher back for whatever reason. Don't get me wrong, Tom Cavanagh's Reverse-Flash was always a lot of fun when he was around.

But if this is supposed to be Earth-1's Eobard, then why Harrison's face? It doesn't make sense to me unless you use the actor's availability explanation.

You Probably Should Not Make Her Angry - Arrow Season 6 Episode 8

But nothing beats the creepy marriage that is Dark Arrow and Overgirl! Did anyone else have their eyes burned when that was revealed?!

I can't even imagine any Earth where any version of Kara would find a connection to any Oliver. I'm sure that was the effect they were going for, but still yuck!

Speaking of messed up...Prometheus-X was none other than evil Tommy Merlyn! Too bad we only got maybe a minute or two of Colin Donnell on the show again.

While the whole scene was twisted, it was simply too short. Why bring Donnell back for only two-three minutes worth of screen-time?

If they had to kill him by the end, that's fine, but give us more than one scene with him! I would have loved to see Oliver fight this nasty version of Tommy without the mask.

Guess Who Is Back In Green - Arrow Season 6 Episode 8

If you're going through all this trouble to bring Tommy back as a Nazi, then don't hold back! Why stop at playing mind-games with Ollie when you could go even bigger!

Despite all of that, I'm so far down with the Earth-X plot. I'm sure their endgame is more than wanting to use Supergirl for a heart transplant for Overgirl.

The only weakness with this part of the crossover was the unnecessarily amount of focus on Oliver and Felicity. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this crossover was supposed to be about Barry and Iris, right?

If so, then why the hell are we having to deal with this Oliver/Felicity nonsense? Let me be clear when I say that it's not the couple themselves I'm annoyed with, it's how they're used.

I've mentioned in reviews like Arrow Season 6 Episode 4 how that is a perfect dose when it comes to this couple. But then we get this, and it's like we're back to square one.

What Is Around His Neck - Arrow Season 6 Episode 8

It almost comes as hilariously petty that Barry and Iris can't be in the spotlight for one event without this couple bumping in. Let's not even talk about Oliver's worst proposal ever on Supergirl.

It takes away space from the crossover that could have been used on better things. Hopefully, they don't bring down the rest of the four-hour event, but I'm scared that they might do that.

Other than that mess, I loved the action that went down in part two! There is nothing more satisfying than seeing Nazis getting their asses kicked over and over again.

Although, I have one nitpick, even though I otherwise loved the action. There is something incredibly wrong about Arrow being able to do a better version of Metallo than Supergirl!

A Super Enemy - Arrow Season 6 Episode 8

How did a Green Arrow show do one of Superman's biggest baddies more faithful than the Girl of Steel?! Heck, Arrow did Metallo more justice than Smallville did!

I can't imagine how exhausting it's going to be to see Earth-X on The Flash Season 4 Episode 8. I'm mixed on why they decided to do Nazi versions of our heroes. If they wanted evil doppelgangers, why not use the Crime Syndicate?!

I can only picture how emotionally charged the stuff at Earth-X is going to be when we get there.

Overall, despite the Felicity/Oliver drama, part two of Crisis on Earth-X was solid. We have so much more coming up, and this chapter was a perfect taste of that.

Just a quick reminder… super speed. I don’t have it.

Punching Nazis — that was definitely as satisfying as I thought it would be.
