The CW Announces Midseason Return Dates: When Does Black Lightning Premiere?!

at .  Updated at .

The CW is firming up its midseason schedule, and it has confirmed when the latest superhero will bow on the network.

Black Lightning will launch out of The Flash on January 18, meaning DC's Legends of Tomorrow will resume later in the year, and there's a good chance it will be moving to a new night and time.

The move makes sense when you consider the fact that The Flash remains as the network's number one series. It may be down, but it's the best launching pad for the show.

The series focuses on Jefferson Pierce, a high school principal in the city of Freeland. He was gifted several years before with the power to control electricity. After a nine-year absence from the crime-fighting world, he is lured out by a gang who threatens his community.

Cress Williams will be playing Jefferson on the series.

The network did not reveal premiere dates for iZombie, The 100, The Originals, or Life Sentence. The premiere dates for those series will be confirmed later in the season.
