American Horror Story is returning to FX later this year for Season 8, and fans are eager to find out some details about what they can expect from the new episodes.

Thankfully, co-creator, Ryan Murphy made his way to the Television Critics Association's winter press tour and was on hand to offer up some hints to reporters about what to expect.

“It's set in the future but not the theme," he said to reporters. "The near-distant future. It's a projection story.”

That's certainly a first for the anthology series which has had seasons set in the present and the past.

Later in the panel, Murphy stated that "It’s different from what we’ve done before.”

Despite previous comments the long-in-the-works mash-up of American Horror Story: Murder House and American Horror Story: Coven would come to fruition for Season 8, that will not be the case.

He maintained that the story for the landmark season has already been outlined, but making the story a reality hinges on the availability of the cast members.

So, we will get the crossover season, but it's all a matter of when the cast will be available to commit to the project. Doesn't it sound like a perfect idea for Season 10?

It would be a perfect way to celebrate ten years of the series that many thought would not stand the test of time. Granted, some seasons have been weaker than the others, but the series is still fresh.

American Horror Story Season 7 focused on a cult and divided viewers because of it taking place in the immediate aftermath of the 2016 Presidential Election.
