Are you ready for Groundhog Day, Cloak and Dagger fans? Not the holiday, but the concept of repeating the same day over and over again.

We essentially experienced a geeky version of the classic movie's plot on Cloak and Dagger Season 1 Episode 7.

Tandy and Tyrone were stuck in a neverending loop while inside someone's mind. A little bit of horror, a dash of action, and a whole lot of emotion. "Lotus Eaters" may have looped itself on repeat, but the feelings cut deep in its first run.

This episode focused on the relationship between fathers and daughters.

"Family" has never been a one-off theme for Cloak and Dagger. Tyrone and his parents, Tandy and Melissa, and Tandy and her dad were just some of the familial relationships that were explored earlier on Cloak and Dagger Season 1.

The bonds Tandy and Tyrone had with the people closest to them provided more depth to their characters. And, it explained why the characters acted the way they did. Their pasts directed their movements into the future.

One of the key things that connected them together was the loss of a family member. On the other hand, Mina Hess has a closer experience to Tandy's loss as compared to Tyrone.

Tandy making an instant connection with Mina on Cloak and Dagger Season 1 Episode 6 a lot of sense. Both of their dads worked together, they were scientists, and they were harmed because of the rig explosion. Plus, they both felt what it was like to lose their father.

Both girls got a resolution to the loss that kept them in limbo after all these years.

Firstly, Mina finally being reunited with her awakened father was a heartwarming moment.

She spent years by his bedside wishing that he would escape his catatonic state and return home to no avail. Obviously, there was no guarantee that he would ever wake up again. And based on his nightmare world, he completely forgot about his daughter.

All it took was time, determination, and cookies to break the spell.

Ivan: “Eye of newt, toe of frog, wool of bat, and leg of dog.”
Mina: Tongue, Dad. The quote is “tongue of dog,” not leg.
Ivan: Is that the reason why my witch’s brew never works?
Mina: That, and magic doesn’t exist.
Ivan: Well, what do you call turning flour, sugar, and water into that?
[He points at the cookies]
Mina: Delicious chemistry.

You gotta love foreshadowing in a plot development like this. Mina's cookies seemed like an arbitrary item in the opening, but the treats were just the thing to trigger his memory.

The cookie served a clever twist for reminding Ivan about his heartbroken daughter. Plus, the callback to Mina's comment to Tandy about the ingredient in Cloak and Dagger Season 1 Episode 6 was a nice touch to connect the plots again.

In Tandy's case, her joy at being reunited with her father turned into obsession fast.

The idea of her getting the chance to talk to him again seemed good at first, but she got hooked on having those chats. Come on, it was only a phone call! Was it truly enough to get sucked into a neverending cycle?

It's a shame that we didn't get to hear a few of her conversations with Nathan Bowen. Beyond the pleasantries of him sharing his love and them having a reunion chat, we didn't get more to the story. She must've shared a lot in the short time between Tyrone leaving the nightmare world and returning.

Tandy got lost in a world of her own. Plus, she looked crushed to find out that the voice was merely a memory after all.

Tandy: Daddy, are you there?
Nathan: I’m here pumpkin.
Tandy: I can’t believe it’s you.
Nathan: Why are you surprised? You see me every day.
Tandy: Not anymore.
Nathan: What do you mean?
Tandy: It’s just... that you’ve been working so much, I feel like I don’t get to see you. I miss it. I miss our talks, our long car rides. I even miss your bad jokes.
Nathan: Well, I’m here right now. What do you want to talk about?
Tandy: It doesn’t matter. I just want to talk. Is that ok?
Nathan: Absolutely.
Tandy: Tell me about your day.
Nathan: You don’t want to hear about all that boring science stuff, do you?
Tandy: Yeah, I do. I really do. I promise.

What "Lotus Eaters" did right for the friendship between Tandy and Tyrone was having Tyrone be the one to make Tandy face the truth.

Ever since we met Tandy on Cloak and Dagger Season 1 Episode 1, she ran away from every problem and blamed her issues on her life. A lot of it was due to her mother, and the con artist life she was forced to live. However, a good portion of her troubles stemmed from her and her decisions.

Tandy traced everything back to the night her father died, and she justified her actions because of it. Life was terrible, so she could do whatever she wanted.

Tyrone, being a new unbiased person, said everything that Tandy needed to hear. But, the only difference, in this case, was that Tandy would listen to him. (You know, because of their connection.)

His words weren't kind or softened; she needed to hear that people cared about her and that the decisions she made in life weren't what he father wanted for her. Tandy needed to stop feeling so alone. She had her mother, she had Tyrone.

The advice was a hard pill to swallow, but this moment might be in my Top 5 scenes of Cloak and Dagger Season 1 yet. The advice brought them closer together, and for her character development, this reflection will do so much good for her self-love in the long-run.

We wouldn't have had that heartwarming scene with the tape recorder if it weren't for the heart-to-heart over the phone.

The continuous loop on the oil rig answered a lot of questions about what happened on the night of the explosion.

We know Roxxon didn't install tiles, the energy they pumped infected people with fear, and the oil rig exploded leaving only one survivor. It's no wonder that the company tried to bury any truth of what happened. But, it begs an important question about the energy itself.

Did Roxxon give up mining for that energy or are they still at it?

Just look at what happened to those operators. Regardless if it was a nightmare dream or not, people died because of it. Maybe this could be Roxxon's big secret after all?

If the "Terrors" made a trip to New Orleans, that new form of an enemy would raise the stakes in town fast.

Tyrone: Tandy? Tandy... Tandy, where are we?
Tandy: I don’t know. Ty. What’s wrong with that guy?
Tyrone: Don’t worry, he can’t see or hear us.
Tandy: Ty!
[The man swings a wrench and Tandy stabs him with the dagger]
Tandy: That guy just tried to kill us!
Tyrone: So, clearly he saw us. The rules here must be different.
Tandy: What the hell is going on?!
Tyrone: The worst that could happen.
[Another crazed individual walks by]
Tyrone: We have to get out of here!

Speaking of the Terrors, did you like the crazed enemies? They're very reminiscent of the horror movie villains from "The Crazies" as they attacked with fury and infected each other easily.

I quite enjoyed these angry villains because we haven't experienced foes yet in the series. Tandy and Tyrone having the chance to use their powers in battle offered a nice change of pace. Plus, we got to see them fight together!

The duo easily took them down with the dagger and cloaking powers, so the enemies weren't that big a threat. However, as mentioned above, in a large environment with thousands of people, they could do a lot of damage.

Might this be the danger Clarisse mentioned in Cloak and Dagger Season 1 Episode 6? Hopefully, they weren't manifestations in Ivan's mind.

The oil rig loop offered an interesting take on the dream world that we haven't seen yet with Tandy and Tyrone's powers.

Ivan's catatonic state trapped his mind at the moment before the accident. What made his experience different than the previous scenes we've had was that it wasn't simply brief flashes of fear. Instead, his environment was lucid enough where the duo, as well as Ivan, could interact with the enemies and oil rig before restarting.

It dug deep into the dream/nightmare world concept to show us the potential of where the series could go.

If Ivan's nightmare could be this complex and dangerous, just imagine the possibilities for our characters in future chapters! Their adventures could lead them anywhere, and that sounds amazing for long-term potential.

Tyrone: Is this a normal thing for you?
Tandy: What?
Tyrone: Sneaking into a hospital with someone in a coma.
Tandy: Not a coma, catatonic. Eight years ago they pulled a dozen bodies off the rig that exploded. Only one of them is still alive.
Tyrone: Eight years ago as in?
Tandy: The night my father crashed off the bridge.
Tyrone: That explosion on the rig is what made Connors pulled the trigger.
Tandy: It also put the vacant sign on Dr. Hess here.
[She waves in front of Ivan’s face]
Tandy: See...
Tyrone: You are into some messed up s***.
