Suits Season 9 Episode 4 Review: Cairo

at .

Fighting a losing battle is a waste of time.

That sentiment echoed through Suits Season 9 Episode 4 as Faye's arrival continued to disrupt the inner workings of the firm.

As usual, there was a lot of conflict, and for some reason, I continue to side with Faye.

Being Targeted - Suits

It's not often an adversary gets introduced, and you start to agree with them over the characters you've watched for several years, but here we are.

Faye made some great points with the voting situation. If this situation were real life, it would likely mean that the two in a relationship would vote the same way, meaning that Harvey and Donna would probably side with one another.

While it was a bit out there for Faye to say that, she did have a point, and that's why there needed to be some sort of change to allow everyone to proceed with little drama.

If you watch Suits online, you know Donna has made some big moves throughout the show's nine-season run, and that she deserves to have her vote just as much as the rest of the characters.

Harvey Tries to Impress George - Suits Season 9 Episode 4

But her relationship with Harvey was a conflict of interest, and there's no getting away from that. In a sense, it felt like Faye was trying to silence Donna to minimize the backlash from the others at the firm.

For Donna to use her father as an excuse for the way she was acting, that was just absurd. When has Harvey ever backed down?

Harvey: Is that for me?
Donna: Why yes it is. A handsome coffee for my handsome man.
Harvey: What do you want?
Donna: Why do I have to want something to give you a compliment.
Harvey: You don't, but you do. You know you're not the only one who can do that.
Donna: You heard me on the phone with my father, didn't you?
Harvey: Okay, you're the only one that can do that. But, if you're going to ask me to come to breakfast, I don't think it's a great idea.
Donna: But, I want to tell him about us and I thought we could do it together.
Harvey: I get that, Donna, but in case you forgot, the first time I met the man, I told him if he took your money, I would shut down the deal.
Donna: Harvey, that was a long time ago.
Harvey: And it was not so long ago that he accused me of putting you at risk over Mike.
Donna: Okay, maybe it is best if I tell him myself. But you're the two most important men in my life, and if I tell him that I choose you, he's not going to hold a grudge, he's going to be happy for us.
Harvey: In other words, the next time it's the three of us.
Donna: You bet your ass it is. And he's in town for a week, so put your big boy pants on and find us a restaurant or my father won't be the only Paulsen you have to worry about.

He's one of the most well-known people in the world of law because he has one of the most tenacious personalities around. He'll move mountains to get his way.

As a viewer of the show, I'm conflicted about Donna's feelings for Harvey if she didn't think telling the truth was the best move.

Darvey Makes a Decision - Suits Season 9 Episode 3

Everything that happened after with Harvey trying to get Donna's father's seal of approval even though he already had it was infuriating.

I'm one of the few who is no longer shipping Darvey because there's always some needless drama thrown into the point that I'm exhausted by the back and forth.

Donna: Don't take this away from me.
Faye: Make a decision by tomorrow, or I'll make one for you.

The only silver lining here is that Harvey's mother and Donna's father know all about the relationship, meaning that they have successfully taken their relationship to the next step.

Going forward, they need to be more upfront with each other. Their relationship is not yet built on solid foundations, and they need to take that into consideration.

The major positive from Everyone vs. Faye is that things are now looking up.

It was a ballsy move for Samantha, Harvey, Alex, and Louis to march into her office and demand that Donna's vote be reinstated or they would all be walking out of the firm.

Faye Listens - Suits Season 9 Episode 4

It was smart but could have proved to be career-ending if Faye decided to stand her ground. Faye wants these lawyers to play on the right side of the law and in an ethical manner.

She went into the firm guns blazing, and that's partly why everyone hates her. Now that she's realized everyone will stick together like a family, she's recognized that she needs to adapt or she's going to do more harm than good.

Donna: What, exactly are you trying to tell me?
Faye: That you have to give up your vote.

There were a variety of things that made her change her stance, but Donna lifting the lid on knowing the truth about her husband was the start of that.

Faye has been all about following the book, but it's clear that her husband didn't do that all those years ago.

Now that Faye is going to loosen her grip if everyone plays ball, we should be in for a period of tranquility, but this being Suits, there's going to be drama.

George Meets Harvey - Suits Season 9 Episode 4

Patrick J. Adams is returning as Mike Ross on Suits Season 9 Episode 5, so something has got to be going down. How will Faye react to having someone who went to prison inside the firm she's overseeing?

Yeah, it's going to be fun!

Louis bordered on tedious throughout "Cairo." Even though he had the most comical moments, he was going to extreme lengths to be the center of attention.

His comments to Katrina about changing things in the Code of Conduct handout were despicable. He acted like a complete and utter man child during those scenes, and he really needs to do some growing up.

Alex and Louis Bowl - Suits Season 9 Episode 2

That being said, his takedown of Harvey was enjoyable because Harvey was trying to act like butter wouldn't melt despite the firm's issues starting the moment the truth about Mike's lack of education started to do the rounds.

As for Samantha, she's been a tough nut to crack, but we're starting to see that her driving force is family -- something that she's always wanted.

She knew Alex had an excellent family life, and the last thing she wanted was for that to be destroyed as a result of something that happened eight years ago.

What I love most about this plot is that Alex and Rosalie are welcoming Samantha into their home for family nights because they know it's something she's been yearning for.

Samantha Saves a Friend - Suits Season 8 Episode 15

With six episodes remaining before Suits concludes, it would be good for Samantha to continue to progress and possibly start a family of her own.

"Cairo" was another middle of the road installment. Some parts were good; some parts were tedious. Hopefully, the addition of Mike on Suits Season 9 Episode 5 gives the series a jolt of life.
