Younger Season 6 Report Card: Best Episode, Most Romantic Moment and More!

Younger had some great moments and some less than great moments on Younger Season 6

On a broad level, the storylines weren't as fleshed out as they should have been, plenty of story arcs got condensed for the sake of time, the characters weren't as empowered, and the love triangle got pushed so heavily, both Team Josh and Team Charles teams were over it by the finale episode.

But the magic that made Younger the fresh, inspiring, and addictive show is still there hidden under all of that.

We're looking back at the best, worst and funniest moments of Season 6.

A Charming Couple - Younger Season 6 Episode 2

Most Frustrating Thing About the Season

The love triangle.

We all dug the Charles vs. Josh conundrum in the show's early days, but we can all agree that Liza's indecisiveness is tiring.

The best thing that can happen come Season 7 is for Liza to make a choice and stick to it.

 Love Triangle - Younger

Funniest Moment

There's never a shortage of funny moments on Younger.

Ironically, two of the funniest moments involved vaginas: Maggie sticking garlic up hers to get rid of a yeast infection delivered plenty of laughs on Younger Season 6 Episode 4 as did Lauren getting her private parts stuck to an ice sculpture on Younger Season 6 Episode 12

But my personal favorite was Liza's micro-dosing experience.

On Younger Season 6 Episode 6, Liza hallucinated Charles and Josh morphing into one person -- it would make things easier for her -- and then ballroom danced with both men when in reality, she was dancing with a plant

Micro-Dancing - Younger

Character That Needs to Grow Up

Liza! This ties right back into Liza not being able to fully commit to Charles or Josh.

Younger Season 6 was supposed to be about Liza owning up to her age and embracing it while adopting the millennial attitude not about acting like a teenager, which has been the theme this season.

Youthfullness - Younger Season 6 Episode 9

Worst Social Media Faux Pas

Both of Kelsey's social media flubs were pretty terrible from sexting the world instead of Zane after securing investor funding on Younger Season 6 Episode 10 to going viral for publically freaking out about Charles and Zane's new company on Younger Season 6 Episode 4.

They were not her finest moments.

How Do We Make This Go Away? - Younger Season 6 Episode 9

Couple That Needs to Get it Together

Kelsey and Zane need to figure out their relationship status.

By the Younger Season 6 Finale, Kelsey opened herself up the possibility of being in a committed relationship with him and made the first move but we've seen this on-and-off decision multiple times.

They have a lot in common, there's a lot of love between them, and Zane's been supportive of her even if it means telling her what she doesn't want to hear, but they're also ego-driven, competitive and goal-oriented, which could be their undoing.

Are You Okay? - Younger Season 6 Episode 11

Character that Needs a Storyline

Maggie. Please, bless Maggie with an actual storyline that doesn't involve her getting injected into moments where she doesn't belong organically.

Debi Mazar is too gifted of an actress to be wasting away as a mere crutch for Liza. Let's give her a decent love story, too.

I'll take her and Lauren's rekindling over Liza's love triangle any day.

Personal Hobbies - Younger Season 6 Episode 10

Unnecessary Storyline

The whole feud between Empirical/Millennial and Mercury.

By Younger Season 6 Episode 12, we were back at square one with Charles as publisher, Kelsey as editor, and Zane working alongside them. It's almost as if the first half of the season never happened.

Good News Bad News - Younger Season 6 Episode 4

Most Romantic Moment

Charles' proposal on Younger Season 6 Episode 12. Although Liza wasn't feeling it because she was emotionally pining over Josh, the moment was adorable.

Charles bared his soul, professed his love, and couldn't take his eyes away from Liza.

And despite proposing at someone else's wedding, he made it an intimate moment between the two of them.

Wedding Bells - Younger Season 6 Episode 12

Best Arrest

Sure, it was the only arrest, but it was the best.

Diana and Kelsey were hilarious when they're drunk together on Younger Season 6 Episode 5. And who would have thought a woman as classy as Diana would have a record that included public urination?

Best Quote

Liza owning her age to Infinitely 21 on Younger Season 6 Episode 9

Younger Review: Millennial's Next Top Model

This was the one moment where Liza stood up for exactly what she believed in and who she believed she was.

Age isn't just a number, it's an attitude. That should be the motto of the show -- if only Liza followed it.

Well, you want some tea, Shelly? Everyone is pretending to be younger. We dye our hair, we whiten our teeth, we wear moisturizing face masks that make us look like serial killers, and we squeeze our widening hips into Spanx because the most important thing to be in the whole goddamn world is 27. Should I have told the truth? Sure. But you know what? So should you. Millennial isn't an age, it's an attitude. And if you can't sell that, we'll go somewhere else.

Liza

Best New Character

Shelly from Infinitely 21.

She's eccentric, yet more subtle than Lauren, and her come-ons to Josh are comical.

She's also played by Broadway star Annaleigh Ashford rounding out the Broadway trio alongside Sutton Foster and Laura Benanti (Quinn.)

Shelly from Infinitely 21 - Younger

Best Episode

The cast wasn't lying when they said Younger Season 6 Episode 8, which would have made for a riveting finale, was the moment we've been waiting for.

Fans spent countless hours wondering when and where Liza's secret would be exposed; everything was building to this moment, and it did not disappoint.

Cringe - Younger Season 6 Episode 8

Worst Episode

The finale.

There's no denying that the finale was a disjointed, jumbled mess that used Diana's wedding as a backdrop to stir up drama between the love triangle.

Here Comes the Bride - Younger Season 6 Episode 12

Season Villain

All together now: Pauline!

She has a stronger contender in Quinn, who was a pest to Millennial, but Pauline wins for exposing Liza after extending an olive branch thus setting into motion a domino effect of bad luck for the company.

Catching Up - Younger

Moment That Was Long Overdue:

Diana finding out the truth about Liza's real age on Younger Season 6 Episode 8.

By Younger Season 6, she was one of the only people who didn't know but should have.

It's a miracle that the truth didn't ruin their friendship but rather strengthened it.

That's Enough - Younger Season 6 Episode 8

Best Musical Moment

The three divas singing on Younger Season 2 Episode 1.

Younger didn't need a musical episode to capitalize on Sutton Foster, Hilary Duff, and Miriam Schor's incredible vocal chops.

These three have such talent and seeing it manifest on our screens is a blessing.

Crisis - Younger Season 6 Episode 1

Scene Stealer

Lauren. She exists on an entirely different planet, but it's a planet we'd all want to be a part of if even for a minute.

That's part of the reason she can get away with all those outrageous lines, wacky outfits, and all the other shenanigans.

Sure, some of the stuff she does is strictly for shock-value (peeing on an ice fountain and getting her vagina stuck to it), but can you imagine if she wasn't around to ease the love triangle tension?

Aside from all of her kookiness, she's a great friend to Kelsey and Liza and jumped in to help plan Diana's big day. She's the true MVP.

Wedding Dress Shopping - Younger

Cutest Cast Addition

Baby Gemma! She's a peach even if the whole Instagram influencer storyline on Younger Season 6 Episode 5 was far-fetched.

Our favorite thing about baby G is that she made Josh into a father. It's the growing-up storyline he needed. Hopefully, we'll see more of her next season.

Growing Up - Younger

Storyline That didn't Get to Thrive

Liza and Charles' relationship. Fans have been looking forward to seeing these two come together since they first laid eyes on each other. Their chemistry was hot and heavy, but all of that seemed to diminish when they officially became a couple and came clean about their relationship.

It's as if all the intensity was fueled by the forbidden nature of the relationship.

Season 6 should have been about Liza and Charles experiencing life as a couple, going on dates, having mind-blowing sex, learning the ins and outs of each other's personalities, and thriving together, but instead, it was a loop de loop between Liza's feelings for Charles and Josh.

I know Team Josh fans will say that Charles was always interrupting Liza's relationship with Josh, but the truth is, that relationship had the time and space to evolve before it got a curveball thrown its way; Liza and Charles were doomed from the start.

A Charming Couple - Younger Season 6 Episode 2

Overall Grade - D

This was by far the least enjoyable season of Younger, and it pains me to say that because I've always looked forward to the escapism.

The storylines weren't as empowering, the moments weren't as funny, and the lack of romance was notable.

Bad PR - Younger Season 6 Episode 8

Hope for Younger Season 7

Aside from a quick resolution to the love triangle, I'd love to see Younger get back to what made it a staple series for women of all ages:

a coming of age story about a woman who is learning to love herself and be comfortable with herself while being surrounded by badass, successful, and supportive women.

The love interests are just bonuses -- they always have been.

It's like Goodnight Moon for adults. With blow jobs!

Liza

Wow. If she was OK with the sex change, maybe this won't be such a big deal.
