The Resident Round Table: Will Jessica Survive?!

at .

Our beloved Nurse Jessica better survive!

On The Resident Season 3 Episode 6, an overworked and tired Jessica ran into a tree after falling asleep at the wheel.

AJ met his birth mom, and it went well. Kit and Cain agreed to work together, and Marshall returned and helped Conrad with his investigation into the drug that killed Jessie.

Join TV Fanatics Rachel Foertsch, Meaghan Frey, and Carissa Pavlica as they discuss the hour.

Rachel: Poor Jessica! We haven't seen enough of her and Irving lately and for a minute I wondered if they were still together. I was thrilled to realize they are, but that crash took all the joy out of me. Why can't we have nice things???

Meaghan: I love Jessica as a character and feel like she is tragically underused, so watching her be the one to get into the accident was rough.

Things like this are what is terrifying about the healthcare system. Hopefully, this will be an eye-opener for the hospital, but I doubt it.

Carissa: I've been in that state of exhaustion before, and I remember driving like that once. I turned up the radio, started singing, and had both windows open. It was winter!!

This is The Resident. If enough people are complacent, a tragedy will kick them in the ass. Bell is already straddling the divide between Kit and Cain, but he cannot abide a tragedy that might hit the hospital, so I hope he goes into overdrive with RRMM diligence.

I hope Jessica lives. We've had enough death here already.

On a scale of 1-10, how thrilled were you to see Marshall again? Do you think he'll remain unaffected by the drug that killed Jessie?

Rachel: I'd say about a 5. I don't care about Marshall one way or the other. I do like that his relationship with Conrad has improved throughout the show and that he was willing to help his son access the medical files.

Then again, that could also be for his own benefit. I think it could go either way.

He might be affected which would give Conrad and Nic even more of a reason to try and shut down the distribution of the drug, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up fine.

Marshall Returns - Tall - The Resident Season 3 Episode 6

Meaghan: 4. I'm glad that he and Conrad are in a good place, but I am not that particularly fond of him. I don't think that he will be affected by the drug, but I think the possibility will be enough to push Conrad to make a poor decision and break the rules.

Carissa: Being a Marshall fan since the beginning, I always find his visits highly enjoyable. And the man has a solution for just about everything, and that he so willingly shares them with Conrad warms my heart.

With Jessica's life in the balance, Marshall has to be off of the table, right? I cannot stand the idea of a devastated Conrad.

Do you have any theories on how Jim and DiaCure will affect the rest of the season?

Rachel: I got a bad vibe from him. Jim seems like the type of person who gets what he wants when he wants it. He has enough money and power to make anything happen and that's downright terrifying.

Meaghan: No theories yet, but we were due for a big bad, so maybe this is it.

Dad's Back - Tall - The Resident Season 3 Episode 6

Carissa: Was anyone else surprised there wasn't some kind of comment on the horrific state of healthcare being so flagrantly financially obsessed?

As a capitalist, I still think there should be regulations for essentials to ensure stuff doesn't get out of control. For some reason, the U.S., whether because they don't try or some other reason, never manages to get the same costs on pharmaceuticals as other countries.

Pensive Bell - The Resident Season 3 Episode 1

Of course, the government overpays for everything but rolling into a shareholders' meeting decked to the nines on a stacked bike with a freakin' HAWK that got the crowd on their toes shrieking with excitement at the big dividends announcement reminded me of something out of The Purge.

That kind of behavior has to come to something on The Resident. That's their bag, man!

What are your thoughts on Bonnie Broome (AJ'S birth mother)?

Rachel: I loved her! She really made an effort with AJ, and you could tell how heartbroken she was over losing him. She's obviously a phenomenal doctor as well, and I hope AJ continues to build a relationship with her.

Meaghan: I am so happy that she isn't a terrible human being. AJ being able to accept both his parents and his bio-parents in his life is going to be a transformative experience for him, so I hope we get to see it play out.

Bonnie Bloome - Tall - The Resident Season 3 Episode 6

Carissa: As many emotions as adopted kids must have about their birth parents, mothers who give up their children have just as many about their kids.

What Mina is going through now at least allows AJ to see the situation for all that it is, and as an adult, you realize that decisions are hard. Nothing is cut and dry.

He needed to meet Bonnie and tell her what he felt, but now I think they'll find peace with each other and build a relationship.

Was Kit's joint Neuro-Ortho venture with Cain the best decision?

Rachel: I'm nervous for Kit. She can do no wrong in my eyes, but I'm worried that she's fighting a battle she can't win. I have no idea what her exact plan is, but I hope it works and she manages to take down Cain once and for all.

Maybe she's trying to destroy him from the inside out? You go, girl!

In Her Corner - Tall - The Resident Season 3 Episode 6

Meaghan: Kit is an absolute badass. I still can't help but think that there is another side to Cain that we haven't seen yet, one that is maybe even good. Perhaps Kit will bring out this side of him.

Carissa: The look on her face as Kit lured Cain closer to her with the promise of financial reward was beautiful. She knows exactly what she's doing. She can keep an eye on him.

Race to Save a Life - Tall - The Resident Season 3 Episode 4

She can have more control over his rather horrid decisions. And she can keep an eye on all of his patients as long as he's there, so if another person needs lifesaving surgery while he's MIA, she can step in to save the day. I like it.

What was your favorite moment from the hour? Most shocking?

Rachel: The most shocking was the car crash and my favorite was when Conrad and Nic threw a game night. Twists and turns are fun and all, but my favorite moments will always be when the characters are able to take a breather and enjoy each other's company.

Meaghan: I'm with Rachel on both fronts. That game night was fantastic. We don't get enough moments of the characters outside of the hospital being normal, so it is nice when we do see it.

The accident we should have seen coming from Jessica pushing herself, but it slipped under the radar throughout the episode, and I was left yelling at my TV, begging her to pull over.

Game Night - Tall - The Resident Season 3 Episode 6

Carissa: My favorite moment of the hour was checking out Conrad in his incredibly ill-fitting suit. Good God, he's something else, isn't he? God Bless America.

And although Jessica's accident should have been the most shocking, all of the talk about lack of sleep was a good indicator something was going to happen.

Bell: You're betting a patient?
Cain: Insurance?
Doctor: Silver hair. Platinum insurance.

The shock was Cain betting patients. He disgusts me. Even Bell was put off over that one, and he likes fame and fortune almost as much as Cain. Good luck redeeming that guy.
