Raylan didn't kill Ava's husband. Ava shot and killed him while he was eating the dinner she had prepared for him. She is Boyd's sister-in-law.

Ava, shot and killed Boyd's brother. So, technically Boyd is not related to her any longer. Boyd is my new favorite TV character. Walton Goggins is doing a great job developing the character.
