Julia Santos came to Pine Valley in 1993, the reckless younger sister of Maria Santos Grey. Her parents had forced her to leave their Texas home after her affair with a married man was discovered. Moving in with Maria, Julia made an unsuccessful seduction attempt on Charlie Brent.

Julia next set her sights on Terrence Frye, and the two began dating. Julia clashed with Taylor Roxbury Cannon, who had her own designs on Terrence.
