  1. Gossip Girl Review: Call Me Serena!

I like Blair and Chuck just as much as the next Blair and Chuck admirer.

That being said, I feel this crazy nostalgia for the boy and the girl in the back of the limo, when their biggest earth shattering problem is Nate finding out. Or Chuck scheming in a swimming pool with all the other kids. Or Blair worrying about Kati and Iz going back to Serena.

I understand the characters have moved on and grown up; I don't necessarily have to like what they've become.

Chuck PHYSICALLY hurt Blair. Whether he meant to or not, whether she was scared or not, whether he would "never intentionally hurt Blair" does not matter at this point. His anger and rage got the best of him and Blair was caught in the crossfire. I don't know where the writers are going to go with this one, because it's going to take me a whole lot more than one grand gesture to be able to trust Chuck.

NEVER have I ever shipped Dan with Blair. I feel like they are better friends, and I believe that Dan and Serena are endgame. However, right now, I feel that Dan is the only guy that deserves Blair. He hasn't pulled the stuff than Chuck has, or blamed her for Chuck hurting her like Louis, or cheated on her like Nate. Blair deserves to be with someone that loves her and will take care of her. And right now, I feel that Dan might be the only one who could do that. Or Rufus, but you know.

So thanks, writers. Hope you know how to talk yourself out of this one.
  2. Gossip Girl Instant Reaction: Discuss "Shattered Bass" ...

georgina is back. i don't even care about anything else.
  3. Taylor Momsen: F*%k Being a Role Model!

I can understand where Taylor Momsen is coming from. She's young, she's growing up, and she obviously had no idea what she was in for when she took the role of Jenny Humphrey, a main character on a show whose main purpose is to appeal to teens young and older.

I agree that parents should be the ones telling their children what is right or isn't, but Taylor Momsen is acting indignant about a "role model" label. If you don't want to be seen as someone that young girls look up to, don't be on a show that young girls watch. It's pretty simple, actually.

Taylor Momsen has chosen a career that has put her into the public eye. No one forced her to take the role on Gossip Girl, and I seriously doubt that anyone is forcing her to reap the benefits provided by the show. Therefore, she is dealing with a double edged sword; she cannot be on the show and not be expected to be appraised and judged by her merits. It's illogical.

I personally am of the belief that she needs to shut her mouth about all of this. Yeah, it's a reaction to the negativity surrounding her, but it's also a slap in the face to her fans. If she doesn't want to be a role model, she should use her actions as opposed to her words. And maybe next time she joins a show as a character whose basic roots are to "be yourself", and "don't allow peer pressure to suck you under" as Jenny Humphrey was when first introduced, she will think twice about the "role model status" she will achieve.
  4. Monday on Gossip Girl: Celebrity Madness and More

Serena is going to be a PUBLICIST? That's kind of lame. I think it would be fun to explore the storyline from the books about Serena becoming famous. I think that would be neat.

Or, knowing Joshua Schwartz, he'll probably just run out of things for her to do and kill S off at the end of the third season while she dies in Dan's arms near a burning old car.
  5. Another Hot Gossip Girl Cast Picture

What are you guys talking about? I lie like that with my brother all the time.
  6. Tonight's Gossip Girl: "Summer, Kind of Wonderful"

Does anyone know where this bathing suit could be purchased? Or maybe something similar?
  7. Report: Gossip Girl Spinoff Dead on Arrival?

CW is cutting down a lot on their programming this fall. I'm just glad GG got through. Some really good shows got cut, like Reaper. Buh.
  8. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Surviving the Prom

Eric and Jonathan. That's my guess and I'm sticking to it.
  9. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Blair, Chuck and the Prom

Does anyone else feel like the whole trying to find GG is a little Wizard of Oz(ish)? What exactly is going to happen to make Serena want to find her so bad? Because GG has revealed some of the deepest, darkest secrets of these kids' lives all over the internet, and no one has even THOUGHT about going after her. Any thoughts?
  10. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Stephanie Savage Q&A

Nate and Serena, Nate and Serena, woo!
  11. Penn Badgley and Blake Lively: Off to Thailand

It's awesome that when they travel, they look like normal people. They don't care about what photogs are going to say about them. They're not like those stupid celebs that have to wear designer shoes and ten pounds of makeup on every single flight.
  12. Gossip Girl Spinoff May Cross Paths with The OC

Lily and Kirsten are very similar, but Kirsten is way more awesome. Also, I'm under the assumption that while Lily was kind of forced to be poor and on her own in California, Kirsten chose to live in the back of a mail truck, smelling of patchouli.
  13. Gossip Girl Spinoff May Cross Paths with The OC

It could be an interesting idea, and the fact that The OC's characters are about 100x more developed than GG's, it could be interesting.

Jimmy Cooper and Kiki Cohen > Lily van der Woodsen and Rufus Humphrey.

Also, add Julie Cooper-Nichol-Cooper-Atwood to the mix and there's no telling what's going to happen.
  14. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Seriously, No More Derena

    You know what this needs?

    More Dorota.

The world's problems could be solved with more Dorota.
  15. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Seriously, No More Derena

Dan and Serena are totally Ryan and Marissa. There's no "they may be turning into" them, they are there. And what's this story line coming up? Serena dates a guy that is totally bad news for her and things turn ~deadly?

I'm sorry, is his name Volchok?
  16. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Seriously, No More Derena

I think if this show was going for the realistic, they failed a long time ago.
  17. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Seriously, No More Derena

That's true, with the exception of season one. Towards the end, they started lying the episodes out, but right about the time that the Handmaiden's Tale aired, Gossip Girl was being picked up for an entire season mid-October of 2007. They may have had ideas, but they were so influenced by the reactions of their fans that they had no real plot for the story. Up until Handmaiden's Tale, the episodes were doing a semi-decent job at mirroring plots from the books. Then Chuck Bass became a core character, and since he had no real story lines in the books (with the exception of doing drugs with Georgina in the mountains) they had to make stories for him. It was the same way with Dan and Serena; they never end up together in the books, but he's obsessed with her.

Josh Schwartz is well known for having really good ideas, and then having no clue where to take them, and therefore relying on what the fans think they want. This in turn makes for crappy television, because as much as people say that want happiness for their favorite characters, they simply are not placated by the idea of peace. It's just not possible. We watched this happen time and time again on The OC when Ryan and Marissa would break up and get back together repeatedly. We watched another example when Summer and Seth were finally together after so many episodes of waiting. Then the audience was left asking the question, "Okay, so now what?" and to that, all Josh Schwartz could say was, "I don't know."

This show was really, really good when we were discovering the characters, their backgrounds and understood their motives. Now we're just seeing recycled stories, out of character actions, and basically a countdown until Chuck and Blair get together.

Like I said, Josh Schwartz has brilliant ideas for stories. It's just once the story has been told, he has never done well at continuing.

  18. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Seriously, No More Derena

Dan and Serena were good at the time. Now they're growing up, they're changing, and Dan apparently feels the need to sleep with lots of chicks. So I'm glad that they're done. If they don't someday get back together, fine, and if they do, I'm not surprised.

I just think it's weak how GG writers will open up a storyline, kind of bring it to the surface, and then just shut it down once fans start flipping out. That's exactly what happened with Nate and Serena. I mean, one episode he was completely obsessed and in love with Serena, then we never heard anything else about it. That is lame.

However, a couple that I really don't understand is Dan and Blair. Perhaps someone could explain that to me? I see absolutely no appeal to them, and I don't see how they could manage to be in the same room together; much less a functioning couple. While Serena and Blair are both ridiculously wealthy and are used to their living situations, Serena was willing to be understanding with the Humphreys. Blair, on the other hand, doesn't seem like she'd want any part of the "glitz and glamour of the Humphrey lifestyle". Also, she's conniving, and Dan is so self-righteous that I have no idea how they would ever work.
  19. Ed Westwick Lunches in L.A.

He looks so disgustingly cracked out in all of these pictures. They make me want to be his friend.
  20. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Seriously, No More Derena

Why would any characters fit together for any reason at all? I mean, Dan and Serena had nothing in common but a brother but they found reasons to drag out their sordid relationship for a good portion of the season.

Nate and Serena are more alike than you'd think. They both understand what it's like growing up the way that they have; from spoilers from upcoming episodes, it looks as if they both have overbearing grandparents that want the best for their grandchildren. Nate and Serena are ridiculously wealthy, pretty, and they know what it's like to live as almost closeted celebrities on Gossip Girl. They both know the feeling of having their deepest secrets blasted on the internet. Also, they both are the only characters that truly understand Blair. They both take her for what she and support her, while others think she is just a heinous bitch.

Also, not to mention the fact that Serena and Nate HAVE hooked up before, and he was infatuated with her at the beginning of season one up until the incident at the Masquerade. Nate and Serena care deeply for each other, and I would like to see that explored.

I'm all for a chance at Nate and Serena, and I think people that won't give it a chance are sorely missing out.
  21. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Seriously, No More Derena

Dude, Nate and Serena for the win. It hurts my eyes watching them because they're both so damned pretty.

I saw someone ask how Dan and Jenny will be connected to the UES? Does the fact that they share a brother count as enough? Because I think we can all at least sort of agree that the brother is being brought to town as a potential date for Blair.

Also, Chuck and Blair are the end game. Everybody knows that. In fact, with all you schizoid "Chair (most unflattering name combination ever, I might add) fans freaking out every time Chuck even looks at another girl, I'm willing to bet my house and college education that the writers are just plotting for them to get together. So everybody needs to calm the hell down and band together to wonder if they could possibly make Nate's character any more pointless.
  22. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Seriously, No More Derena

Sick burn, Dan Humphrey. Have fun trying to find someone hotter and cooler than Serena.
  23. Gorgeous LM

She's so pretty. I really like that shirt...however, her face looks a little off in this picture. Like she's melting? I don't know. This whole shoot is really pretty...this picture just freaks me out a little bit.
  24. Gossip Girl Spoilers: Notes From Future Episodes

    Needs more Dorota.
  25. Gossip Girl Promotional Poster: "The Grandfather"

I don't know what's going on, but Blair's dress is awesome and that is the most emotion I have ever seen Chase Crawford show about ANYTHING.
