Gossip Girl Review: Tag Teams and Takedowns (12/11/2012)
@Em I see what you mean. Chuck had a few seconds to make a choice, and after everything Bart had said to him in the previous moments, he couldn't have done anything differently. It goes without saying that he comes out of all this (and is indeed) the better man, since he didn't kill Bart (or anyone else, for that matter); he just didn't save him. I just thought that all the build-up around Bart's storyline, when it was all leading to his death, was, as you say, the easiest option. On the other hand, it did make sense to me that in the end, what didn't save Bart (and made him lose the battle to Chuck) was the thing he always said made Chuck weak: compassion.

@puppybunny1 Yep, I agree with you too. For a moment, I thought Chuck was gonna grab Bart's hand, and when he didn't, it was kind of a letdown. To me, by killing him, the writers took the easy way out, instead of making C&B having to deal with it in a more "adult" way, like they had been doing up until that moment (which would also had proven that Chuck was more of a man than Bart would ever be, especially after his "being a man" speech).

Gossip Girl Review: Tag Teams and Takedowns (12/11/2012)
@Em I agree with everything you said! The music in that last scene was ridiculous. I know it's an "homage" to some films the show has been making reference to since day 1, but still. The rest of the episode was great! I've always rooted for Derena, but I, too, had been wondering if there was a way for them to finally get back together after everything they've been through. It turns out I enjoyed Dan's awful actions being a wake-up call for Serena, and for himself, too. They somehow triggered a much-needed character development. As for Chair, they're always amazing together. Their scheming has got too far, but then again it is what brought them together in the first place, so it's nice to see it ending the same way it started. I remember reading somewhere that before airing the last episode, a "behind the scenes" special would air. Does anyone know if that's still happening?
