Eve: Come on, Abe, surely you can't be so naive as to believe Tripp and Haley are actually in love!
Abe: I'd believe Tripp and Haley have feelings for each other over whatever this relationship you two have is supposed to be.
Jack: Come on, Abe, that's hitting below the belt.
Abe: You'are acting awfully familiar with me.
Eve: That's because he's known you a long time.
Abe: No. I don't know him at all. It's funny. The man standing in front of me looks and sounds like my old friend, the man who was taken from us far too soon, who I shared barbecues with, who bored Lexie to tears with his lame-ass jokes. But the man I knew had compassion, had empathy. He would have used the power of his brilliant pen to champion someone like Haley Chen, to support her and shine a light on all of her virtues. And if some opportunisitc wanna-be politician came along and wanted to prey on her situation to score political points, he would have been the first to call her out. Where is that man, Jack?
Eve: He's changed for the better.
