Detective Kate Becket and Castle investigate when Henry Graham is found murdered in the park. Henry's good friend, Inspector Zhang from Hong Kong flew in to help Henry when he called but she arrived too late and doesn't know what he was involved in. Zhang decides to work with Beckett to help solve the case.

Beckett begins to feel inferior when not only one of her former academy graduates is promoted to Captain of his own precinct but when she realizes all of Chief Inspector Zhang's impressive accomplishements and that the woman is also married to an action movie super star and has two beautiful children. Castle tries to assure Kate that she has nothing to be insecure about.

The case ends up leading back to Henry's girlfriend and not his criminal past. Inspector Zhang admits to Beckett that she feels like she failed Henry as a friend and that she's separated from her husband and hasn't been the best mother she could be. Beckett decides to make a list of priorites for her own future and assures Castle that she won't lose sight of what's important.
