In the ninth week of competition, the fans choose the music, costumes and dance styles for each couple for round one of the competition.

Before the competition begins, one couple is announced to be safe and will compete in the semi-finals next week. That couple is Tommy and Peta, and the reactions are priceless.

Alfonso and Witney start off the night with a Foxtrot that gets plenty of compliments from the judges.

Tommy and Peta followed with a Viennese Waltz that Carrie Ann said showed everyone why "less is more."

Despite a tense rehearsal, Lea and Artem danced a sexy Samba that earned a score of 34.

Dancing a Viennese Waltz that Carrie Ann called "breathtaking" was Bethany and Derek.

Sadie and Mark danced a fun Jive that received criticism from the judges. Still, they earned a score of 33.

Janel and Val's Quickstep was energetic despite a bit of a mishap. The judges praised it for it's detail, and Julianne called it the best dance of the night.

The couples also danced the competitive trio dances this week for a new set of challenges. Each couple chose another professional dancer to join them for their routines, including Sharna, Tony, and Keo.

Two of the trio dances earned perfect scores this week: Alfonso and Witney (and Lindsey) with their Paso Doble, and Sadie and Mark (and Emma) with their Foxtrot.

Of course, another couple was eliminated this week, just short of the semifinals. And it may not be the couple you expected.
