Yaz, a probationary police officer, is looking to stretch her skills with more interesting cases. Ryan's personal challenge is to overcome his dyspraxia to become more coordinated and confident. He and Graham are sorting out their relationship as Graham is married to Ryan's grandmother, Grace. When the pod Ryan finds on the Dales hatches a vile and ruthless alien on the hunt for another human, The Doctor has to pull it all together to do what The Doctor has always done - defend Earth and its residents from all would be dangers.
