In the end, turns out the basis for the Syphillis was actually a belly button piercing the minister's wife received from a young woman with this disease. In other words: no infidelity, just a wild mix up. All was fixed, Zoe attended the church pancake breakfast and maybe learned a lesson about cynicism along the way.
