Meet Jane. Jane is a young woman with a plan, a plan to become a teacher, to marry her boyfriend of two years, and to remain a virgin until that happens. Jane shows up to a routine doctor's appointment expecting a pap smear, but her distracted doctor, Luisa, accidentally inseminates her sperm meant for the patient next door.

Against all of her planning, Jane ends up pregnant. Some people think Jane should not have the baby (her boyfriend, Michael), others think it will be the best thing to happen to her (her abuela), others just want Jane to know she has a choice (her mother). After speaking with the father, who turns out to be her boss and one-time crush, Rafael, she learns he had cancer and this is his only shot at having a child. Jane decides to keep the baby and give it to Rafe and his wife.

She explains the plan to Michael who comes around to it. Jane then proposes to him and he accepts. 

Meet Rafael. Rafael is trapped in a loveless marriage to Petra, a woman who is desperate to keep her husband until they've been married for 5 years and she can collect on her $10 million pre-nup and is sleeping with Rafe's friend on the side. Rafael has just returned to work after surviving cancer. When Rafael learns that his sperm was accidentally inseminated into the cute waitress who works at his hotel, he asks her to have it for him.

When Jane eventually agrees, he has to give up on his plan to divorce Petra.
