Recap

At bedtime, Noah suddenly asks what happened to Maddie. He admits he googled Benson and learned about William Lewis and Johnny D. He knows Johnny D is his father.

Benson asks how Noah knows all this. He admits he looked in the box in her closet. Benson tells him there is a time and place for this conversation and this is not the way to do it. He asks her to read him a story.

As Benson reads Little Red Riding Hood, we meet two girls, one who has a red cap, who are walking through the park at night. Some older boys bother them and when they try to leave, one of the boys grabs the girl with the red cap and drags her away while the other screams.

The kidnapping is juxtaposed with Benson reading the story. Noah asks her if the ending of Little Red Riding Hood is a happy ending. Benson isn't sure.

After Noah goes to bed, Benson goes to her closet and takes down the box full of secrets.

The next day, Benson confides in Carisi about Noah's questions. She also says that he is youngenough to still believe the bad guys go to jail. So what's happening with Maddie's case? Carisi says the start witness died in jail. He's afraid Maddie isn't enough because she was drugged the whole time so a defense attorney will insist she is an unreliable witness. Benson wants Carisi to put her on the stand.

They're interrupted by a call. One of the girls from the first scene was found unconscious in the park, naked, nearly dead with a belt around her neck.

At the scene, Bruno says that there were likely multiple assailants and that this was very violent and brutal. They have TARU checking security footage. Curry notices lipstick on the slide in the playground and realizes there's a second victim.

At the hospital, the doctor says Rosie has very serious injuries, probably multiple assailants, and likely won't survive. The cops get in touch with her nanny, who was watching her while her parents were away celebrating their 20th anniversary in Japan. She says Rosie was supposed to have her best friend Sydney over.

Benson talks to Sydney's stepmother who assumes Sydney is at the hospital with Rosie. Sydney calls. She says that she is fine but won't say where she is. Benson takes the phone. Sydney won't tell her where she is either and says she has to go. We see the kidnapper has a belt around her neck.

The forensics are not very helpful but DNA shows four teenage boys assaulted Rosie and security footage shows the attack and that Sydney was frozen at first, then ran after them to try to stop the rape. The cops theorize she was kidnapped because she tried to stop them.

At the police station, Sydney's stepmom doesn't understand. Sydney is not a liar. Benson questions her about her friends, last night, etc. Rosie's family has a lot of money and the parents are never home. She is raised mostly by the nanny. She doesn't t hink the girls were involved with a group of boys but she doesn't really understand them or how they communicate.

TARU gets a hit. Sydney's cell phone is at the Marina.

Benson orders a search of every boat. They're all clear but the dog finds Sydney's scent in a boat cabin and her phone is hidden in a compartment in the boat floor. Benson wants to know who owns the boat.

Benson unpdates Mrs. Lynch and reassures her that they have no reason to believe that Sydney has been killed. They hope to find her alive. They also have found a hoodie on the boat but it is not Sydney's, though her phone was there.

Forensics show DNA matches the four boys who raped Rosie. Security footage from the marina shows them taking Sydney on the boat. They all seem to know each other, but Benson doesn't think they knew the girls.  However, it wasn't random -- she thinks they likely were waiting in the park for a victim.

Bruno notes the perps are high school age and likely have been truant. Benson suggests talking to school counselors. Bruno agrees that the boys likely have killed animals before.

Rosie's parents arrive at the hospital. They don't understand why Sydney has not been found and offer to pay a ransom. Carisi explains the kidnappers just wanted to hurt someone. The father thinks these kids are wild animals.

The cops get a call. A neighbor saw a girl acting strangely on the roof of a townhouse in the rain. The photo looks like Sydney. The cops call hostage negotiators and go to the scene.

Benson tells a cop to tell the snipers to stand down. She finds out the townhouse has been vacant and the exterminator had a set of keys that her son stole. The mother is on scene. She says that her son has always been different and that he tries to be good. Benson shows her the snipers and says the best way to save her son's life is to call him.

Benson talks to Seth on the phone and convinces him to let Sydney go. He surrenders and there is no mention of what happened to the other three guys.

Just as Syndey is rescued, Benson learns that Rosie's parents ended life support. She's dead.

Benson is angry and takes Seth in her car to the park for a "forensic reenactment." She starts to be violent with him and demands a full confession while Seth says he's sorry. She realizes what she's doing and tells Velasco to take him back to the station.
