Law & Order: SVU Season 23 Episode 21 revolves around questions of faith and forgiveness.

When a woman in Carisi's parish is raped after confessing to a priest there that she was having an affair, Carisi doesn't want to believe that a priest could be involved, especially as Father Duffy has been his friend since middle school. The cops set up a sting operation and Father Duffy is caught and arrested.

Duffy insists he is innocent but can't tell anyone why he was there, not even his lawyer. Carisi realizes that the rapist confessed to Duffy, and Benson realizes that means he is the other priest. An investigation turns up another woman who was raped by Regis in his previous parish, but there's still no proof.

Meanwhile, Burton Lowe contacts Benson. He is sober now and wants to make amends. Benson is suspicious but feels she should give him a chance because people can and do change. Fin, however, is not so willing to forgive.

A woman comes to see Benson. Burton raped her after the last time Benson saw him. Burton just tried to make amends and she recorded what he said.
