On the flight home from the battle against the Kamarilla, Biddy Tally comforts Adil over the loss of Abigail and Raelle. While arguing with Scylla, Willa denies that the Spree attacked the Bellweather wedding. Willa shows Scylla a recent Kamarilla attack on the Spree leadership, killing six. Gen. Bellweather confronts Alder. Anacostia hugs Tally. The Army leadership learns about the attack on the Spree then about Penelope's power. Suspicious soldiers arrest Abigail and Raelle. Alder offers Tally an opportunity to be reverted to her natural age. Then Tally preceives that Abigail and Raelle are alive. She agrees to Alder's offer. Alder informs Silver that Penelope must be tested. A ceremony is performed in which a Biddy trainee replaces Tally. In the hospital, Tally catches up with Abigail and Raelle. Khalida and Adil argue over where they belong. Abigail and Raelle tell the generals about their explosive power. Scylla determines Anacostia is spying on the Spree hideout. Alder orders Izadora to train Abigail and Raelle to use their new power. While Adil and Abigail embrace, Khalida returns Raelle's mother's charm to her. The ground shakes when Abigail and Adil make love. Alder checks in on Tally. Penelope is a witch and will be called to serve, to her father's dismay. A transformed Willa and Scylla go to a vigil at the site of a Spree attack six years ago. The speaker incites hate against witches. Willa tasks Scylla with finding the leader of the hate group. Anacostia demands their medals, then returns them inscribed for War College. Tally dreams of a Kamarilla attack and awakes with a wound on her stomach.
