Review Round Table Quotes

Recap

A thief falls to his death following a police pursuit, and a stolen gun comes to light. The weapon belonged to a Navy Chief Petty Officer Jacob Tarlow, a Jewish man who was working as a recruiter to bring blacks into the Navy. Tarlow's murder forty years ago has haunted Loretta Wade across the decades.

They talk with Tarlow's widow Hannah, his daughter Miriam, brother Esau, and best friend Paul Hare. The day Tarlow died, Tarlow and Hare were attacked by men from the Confederate Brigade, an offshoot of the KKK. Hannah agrees to have her husband's body exhumed.

Pride's daughter Laurel stops by the office and asks her dad not to be too friendly when she introduces her new boyfriend Orion because Pride has a habit of becoming so popular with her boyfriends that their relationship become all about how awesome her dad is.

Before Tarlow's body can be exhumed, an anonymous injunction stops them.

The team finds a lead on the Tarlow's gun, which takes them to Brick Myers, a leader of the Confederate Brigade. He and two of his buddies are taken into custody after trying to flee. Myers denies killing Tarlow, and claims that he bought the gun from a cop called "T-Bone".

Sebastian determines that the cop they're looking for is around 5'6" to 5'8" tall. Loretta is frustrated at the lack of progress on the case, but she gives Pride the idea of looking at the old FBI surveillance of the Confederate Brigade. They find a cop of the right height in the pictures and Pride realizes that "T-Bone" is Tom Hamilton, the father of Councilman Hamilton.

Neither Hamilton is cooperative, and Pride knows that the councilman was behind the injunction to stop the exhumation. They successfully get around the injunction, and Loretta performs an autopsy on Tarlow. She finds that he was dead before he was hung, and that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head - caused by his own gun.

Sebastian finds the killer's DNA on the gun, but they have sample of Tom Hamilton's DNA to test against. Pride convinces the councilman to turn over his father's hairbrush, and the test comes back negative: Tom Hamilton is not the killer.

Loretta realizes that maybe they've been looking at the case all wrong and goes back to Tarlow's Navy journal. They discover the last entry was actually forged by someone else: his best friend Paul.

Paul was in love with Tarlow's wife Hannah, and killed Tarlow during an argument. Unfortunately for Paul, Hannah never reciprocated his love. Paul is arrested to face a court martial, and Tarlow is reburied with proper ceremony.

The team unites for a happy Thanksgiving feast together.
