Recap

Six years ago, Mike and his partner, Jesse, responded to a call. Jesse was shot.

Mike is next shown drinking beer on the couch while wallowing in grief. There is a knock at the door. It's someone dropping off Jesse's dog, Cletus.

Harry is on top of a peak thinking about how one of his people is 1,900 miles from New York. He cannot bring himself to dial the number.

Asta wakes up on Jimmy's couch. He's got coffee for her. He enjoyed talking with her about Jay. Asta races out of the house.

Liv asks Mike about his date, noticing that he left pretty quickly. She offers her ear if he ever wants to talk.

Liv cannot get that dress out of her mind. She is missing time, and she's concerned. He says he can't remember any day, so it's not worrying him.

They spot someone stealing a bike and take off.

D'Arcy almost got her eye poked out by a tree. She was very drunk, and the person attending to her at the clinic chastises her.

Harry is laughing with Number 43. Asta finds a talking octopus very disconcerting. She really wants Harry to call that number. Harry is worried that he's too human now, and another alien might not help him.

The sheriff calls. Harry's daughter has arrived.

Her name is Liza. Mike and Liv look at him like he's nuts because he can't remember anything. Liza pulled Liv's hair and was caught stealing. She recently escaped from a teen boot camp.

Harry tells her to leave, and Liza gets up and goes. Harry wants more bacon.

Liza is chatting with an adult. Asta tells him to get out. Lisa is a pain in the ass, taunting Asta as she tries to help her.

As Harry stares at them through the blinds while chewing bacon, Liza says something is different.

Liv is at the cemetary, talking to her aunt Cathy. She was the only person that Liv ever talked to about the UFO.

There's a big statue for The 59, and they're all buried under there. Ben has a big do planned to celebrate that history.

Asta gives Harry a lot of advice and then leaves him alone with Liza.

Jimmy has road rage with D'Arcy for stealing his spot. But when he sees her, he pulls back a little.

They battle with words until he says that Asta stayed at his house last night.

Mike's dad tells him that his biopsy came back negative. Mike remembers none of it. It was the day they're missing. They begin fighting about grief.

Mike doesn't like his dad sitting across the table from him telling him all the things that are wrong with him, but dad doesn't think a young man should be forgetting things like he is. It's not normal.

Harry is cooking pasta. Liza won't eat the gluten.

Mike wonders where Liv is. She's on her car on a blanket listening to alien talk radio. She lies, and he wants her to get lottery tickets for him and Cletus.

Asta and D'Arcy lay into each other about their lives. Drinking too much. Staying with Jimmy. Then Asta says she's not sure D'Arcy is the best person to be giving advice about men. That was a step too far.

Harry kidnapped Murphy, a dog that Sahar works. Harry wanted Murphy so that Liza would be able to play with it. Liza doesn't want it. The dog pees on Harry's foot.

Harry tries to connect with Liza, dragging out tea sets, nail polish, and a banana and condom. Oh, and a donut.

Ben is concerned with Family Day as people's booths are misplaced and there's a murderer there.

Harry is taking Liza to Family Day to keep from feeding her to Number 42. She wants to drive, and he lets her if it means she'll stop complaining.

Harry is absolutely beside himself with how badly Liza drives. He demands she stop the truck and get out, calling her the worst driver he's ever seen. She storms away.

Sahar and Max arrive at the trailer. It's been ransacked. Even the satellite dish is gone. That General dude has it and Harry's alien ball, which has coffee dancing above it.

Liza throws a water balloon at Harry, and they start trading barbs and going all out in a balloon war.

Asta goes to see Sam's wife, telling her she knows that she didn't kill Sam. It makes her very happy.

Harry wonders if Liza's food ever gets stuck in her lip metal. She thought Harry hated her because he ghosted her for three years. She was hoping that being family would be enough. He calls the camp to say she won't be returning. She's thrilled.

There's a pepper eating contest, and when Asta sees D'Arcy join, she does, too. Judy is the first one out after one bite.

Mike asks Harry about his missing memories. He's worried and wants help. Mike says that he lost a friend years back, and he hasn't been the same since. He's worried that he won't remember more time with his dad. Harry puts him in a chair for help and a memory insertion.

Pepper contest over.

It's time for the play.

Mike wonders how much of the town budget Ben spent on the play. Eight percent. The play is a nightmare with kids dressed at rocks killing the miners. Harry and Liza burst out laughing.

A poignant song about where did the daddys go and my uncle is my new daddy now. Mom's drinking wine all the time, and uncle daddy gets real mad, they don't think he will stay.

Asta and D'Arcy talk, supporting each other.

They decide to burn a part of their past, which is a football sweater that has been in Asta's trunk since senior year.

Kate and Max are leaving for a while, going to her mom's. Ben feels bad that everyone hated the play. But Max loved it. He's singing the song. And that blood was awesome!

Ben says goodbye and lets a massive fart rip before closing the door.

Asta and Harry see Liza off. Liza catches Harry off-guard with a hug.

He's ready to go to New York now. He has changed, but he still thinks he's more alien than human.

Mike remember exactly what happened that day he was missing. The memory was of him and his dad fishing together. It was a very good memory.

Resident Alien Season 2 Episode 5 Quotes

Is this how humans feel when they have a child? Angry and resentful for having to care for a tiny thing? If she were a pet bird, I would leave the cage door open and the ceiling fan on.

Harry [internal]

This is weird. She looks like me. If I just fell face-first into a pile of metal.
