After Hornstock's demoted to being a Junior Detective, Miami P.D., hires a new captain to take over. Hornstock 's trying to deal with not being the captain anymore but still offers his services to help the new captain out with his first day on the job.

Captain Aaron Slade is charming and charismatic just like Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. He's also a huge fan of the Villa and Rosewood duo. 

Capt. Slade orders Villa and Rosewood to team up to solve the murder of 20-year-old college student, Cassie Hanson. Hanson was Mayor Esparza's protégé, and the Mayor personally wanted Rosewood on the case.

Rosewood and Villa are still dealing with the aftermath of Rosie's news regarding Villa's husband, Eddie. It turns out Eddie was murdered and now Villa and Rosewood are joining together to solve this cold case.

After quitting her job at Magic City Lab, Pippy has decided to pursue a career in music.

TMI is still trying to cope with her breakup with Pippy. TMI stated that she hasn't seen nor heard from Pippy since the wedding was called off.

Donna finally comes clean about her new inmate friend Gerald, to TMI. Donna wants to start a new journey in life by helping out individuals that don't have anyone else to turn to in their time of need.
