Alex dreams of Melanie.

Wilford tries to map out where the train is going on the wall of his cell.

Alex wakes up, feeling the train's speed change. Ben comes in and informs Alex there's a track blockage. It's about three kilometers away and looks like train cars. Alex knows what it is.

Layton is meeting with the heads of departments in the First Class dining car. Pike waits to talk to him alone.

Pike points out all the people they've lost since Layton left. Layton points out that Pike stepped up as a leader while he was away. Layton offers him a role as leader again.

In the engine, Alex and Ben tell Layton about the train cars that Wilford cut to lose weight. They are clamped to the track.

Ben proposes they board the cars and turn them on to undo the clamps. The only alternative would be to backtrack to another route which would delay arrival in New Eden by 23 days. Layton refuses to backtrack so Alex prepares to go. Ben opts to go with her, leaving Javi with the engine.

LJ brings Till to the Night Car to rouse Roche who has been passed out on the couch.

When they get back to his quarters, they find an angry Carly packing to leave. He asks Till to take him back to the Drawers.

Alex talks with Mel through packing for the mission, reminding her that she's not responsible for Wilford's sins.

Javi gets back in the engine and pulls the train to a stop when Ben tells him they're ready to disembark.

Wilford feels the stop and wonders what they rolled up on. Melanie appears to him to discuss where the train might be. He moans to Melanie about the pain in his hand.

When the train reverses, he realizes where they are.

Layton shares his vision with Zarah.

Alex and Ben get aboard the abandoned cars. Melanie urges Alex to tell Ben the real reason she volunteered to clear the cars.

Ruth picks up a Hospitality uniform in the market. When she gets back to her quarters, she finds Pike. He's there to fulfill a promise they made to share a Bananas Foster if they made it through. He convinces her to come out with him and celebrate even though she's working in the morning.

Asha has some issues with the noise and sensory overload in the food car. She and Layton discuss the world's situation. He counsels her to take it slow.

Dr. Pelton is nearby, waiting for Layton. She informs him of Dr. Headwood's involvement in Zarah's pregnancy.

Ben tries to communicate with Javi but Javi's having visions of Jupiter guarding him again.

Alex warns Ben just before he enters the train car full of people Wilford abandoned to freeze and die in his cull.

As Ben heads to the next panel, Alex flashes back to when she was ten and the people who used to live in these cars. She had a friend who was culled.

Till takes Roche to the Drawers. He asks for a moment alone and when she leaves, he takes some of the suspension drugs.

Asha hits the Night Car during a rave party. On the dance floor, she flashes back to her life in the nuclear station. She rushes out to the experience rooms with TIll in pursuit.

She has a meltdown, remembering the fight, possibly other fights.

Till tries to help. Asha reassures her that she'll keep up the lie.

Ben blows the ice off of the clamps under the train cars with explosives. Alex and Melanie walk through to the other car. Alex tells Melanie about her friend, Shiloh.

In his cell, Wilford realizes that Javi is driving which means that Alex is seeing the people he let die. He expresses some remorse for that.

Alex brought a discman to play a CD of nature sounds that she and Shiloh used to listen to together. She sets it to play next to Shiloh's body.

Layton is waiting in the lab when Dr. Mrs. Headwood arrives, startling her. When he attacks her with accusations, she tells him Zarah agreed to it.

Ruth and Pike share their treat. Ruth tries to find out who Pike was Before the Freeze. He doesn't answer and admits he won't step up for Layton.

Alex and Ben run into a problem with the clamps. Ben tells Javi to call Layton who is having it out with Zarah at that moment.

Pike takes Ruth to his little home in the Market. As they become intimate, he tries to convince her that she should be in charge, not Layton.

Ben and Alex fill Layton in on the issue. Alex believes Wilford will know where the problem is. Layton goes to patch Wilford through from his cell.

Rocher gets dressed in his uniform, remembering the family he's lost. He relieves the brakeman guarding Wilford.

He goes down to visit Wilford who thinks he's come to ask for help with the clamps. Instead, Roche injects Wilford with the suspension drugs to the heart.

Layton comes in as Wilford starts to lose consciousness and tries to get information out of him. Till comes in and takes Roche to his quarters.

Layton orders them to abort the mission. Alex insists she can figure it out. Melanie tells her to look at the train not the monitor. Alex admits that she misses Wilford because he taught her to be an engineer. Melanie gives her permission to care for him.

Alex remembers a lesson Wilford taught her as a child and realizes where the problem is with the car's clamps. She fixes it. Ben unclamps the cars.

Snowpiercer returns and moves the cars off the main line.

Wilford's in recovery.

Ruth sneaks out of Pike's place, bidding him a good morning.

Layton returns to Zarah and their quarters.

Alex goes to see Wilford. She sits down to keep him company.
