Ben and Jack mollify a group of homeless foster and biological siblings so they can help save a life, triggering memories from Jack’s past.

Flashbacks reveal in June 2002 Jack was about to be adopted and had parents, siblings, and a place to call home.

All that was ripped away when a fire killed his foster parents and split up Jack and his foster siblings.

The incident at the homeless encampment gets to Jack, and he shows Andy where he used to live.

The two decide to move in together.

The team, especially Andy, have trouble adjusting to Maya's new role as captain.

Maya pushes the firefighters to their physical limits, and Sullivan rebukes her for breaking something that isn't broken.

Dean's ex-girlfriend JJ shows up and reveals she is pregnant. 

Though scared at first, Dean accepts that he's going to be a father and steps up.

Pruitt asks Dixon for help after his workers' compensation has been rejected and reveals he wants to leave Andy something when he dies from cancer.

Dixon dismisses Pruitt and has Sullivan talk with the former captain.

Pruitt tells Sullivan the current battalion chief should be on his side, and Sullivan feels Pruitt needs to tell Andy the truth about his health.
